redsnapper
I was working on adding a 2nd connector to to an XVE charger and accidentally crossed my dmm probes while measuring output voltage so I shorted the charger and - yes im an idiot! for the electronics guys, what is the most likely 1st line failure component in such a scenario (working back from the output side)? redsnapper
this problem resolved itself - there must be an ouput short circuit protection that takes a bit to allow the unit to resume normal function. good to know! very lucky for me...
RockyTop
Yep! I had that happen once a few years back. It reminds me of the old tungsten spring fuse. When it heats up it bends and breaks the connection. Later after cooling it straightens and remakes the connection. That was the old days. I don’t know how the power supply does it. Seba
Charger working principle is that it limits output current, so no harm will be done in case of short circuit
