I said this already, but I sincerely hope you didn't just deactivate the one warning system you had before the wiring would overheat and melt. I would not dare to go one mile at 17% with my ACM.

Get and wear knee pads and wrist guards, these body parts will hit the ground in an uphill slow/medium speed cut-out... just to be prepared for the worst:) Realize that the overheating is not due to heat collecting in the shell, but due to heating of some part by electricity - you can't expect some small vents to cool small electric parts (mosfets or wherever the sensor is) forever, they will just delay, and not by much.
