Anyone else into VR?

Yeah, I wish the price on the equipment would start dropping since VR seems to have been taking off since 2016/17.  It's fun watching some of the Bridge Crew videos where people joke around, and you can tell that some are struggling with some of the VR hardware limitations of the less expensive gear.  The HTC Vive I tried out is really good, and I could have easily played for longer than an hour since the time just really flies by in the VR realm!  So much fun!  :w00t2:

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the price point of entry since it's quite an investment especially if there's a tendency to get tired of it after a while.  I haven't played any first person shooter games for so long, it was really fun getting back into it even it was just a simple shoot em up zombie sim.  I used to be into Enemy Territory, Mechwarrior, and a little of the Half Life engine games before Counterstrike became all the rage.  I kind of fell out of the scene for quite some time.  This VR stuff looks really enticing, but to get two sets to play around with really stretches out the spending budget a bit if you want to share the experience at home with someone.  The online matches look to be a good alternative.  It's not that I can't afford it, but trying to mentally justify the cost is just a struggle getting over the sticker shock.  Kinda like EUCs!  :whistling:  $2200 USD for one wheel?  Wha?

I wish they could have made the Bridge Crew game so the characters can get up and walk around and explore the ship a bit.  Holodeck minigames, quarters, engine room, transporter, shuttlecraft away missions for some first person shooting, self-destruct scenarios, eject warp coils, USS Bridge Crew Versus Klingon Bridge Crew :w00t2:, etc.  There's so much more they could put into it.  Sometimes you get tired of the same old thing after a while.  It would be cool to see a Marty and Duf VR gaming session on a live stream.  That would be a blast.

I am so headed to Star Fleet Academy school and hooking up with some green alien women!  :w00t2:  I hope my computer is fast enough though...

Hey check out this Star Trek Stage 9 recreation.  Too bad CBS took it down.  There always are torrents though... :whistling:

I took a photo sphere with a Spark drone earlier today. The whole process is a programmed drone photo feature. Stitching (46 pics per sphere) usually looks better when done with Microsoft Image Composite Editor. Adobe Lightroom app color correction makes the scene more vivid. Metadata can be added by up/downloading to:

Since spheres are supposed to be 2:1 aspect ratio I import into Gimp, rezize - reposition the height of the image canvas to give 2:1 and fill the top with a close sky color pick.

There is a Google app called 'Fulldive VR' that costs per month ($0.99) that projects VR content onto a smart Phone display inserted into VR Goggles.

Not as exciting as VR gaming but the photosphere has the added element of height in addition to 360 pano.
