But otherwise no thanks. Also i'm using it maybe once a month, when i go for a "fun" ride. It's already 3 years old and not a single scrape yet.. Looks like new right out of box. So i don't plan getting new one anytime soon. 200$ isn't even much.. I simply see no reason to buy another one as i rarely use it and old one is undamaged. It's not a scam. Helmet companies obviously want you to buy more, but the science behind it checks out. Much of how a helmet saves your head is by having foam compress inside the helmet, giving your head more time to decelerate in the event of a crash, as well as reducing how much your head bounces. These two things reduce neck and brain damage in a crash. Even dropping the helmet a bit will compress this foam. It doesn't mean the helmet is suddenly worthless, it's still MUCH better than nothing. But there is rational behind replacing a helmet. P.S. I haven't replaced my helmet in 3 years and it's been dropped a lot.
alcatraz
Offroading requires more crash resistance. So a modular road only (non entry level) wheel is maybe what is missing on the market. Edited May 16 by alcatraz
