Pidzoom Prototype Mirror

Great to see Bob offering more safety accessories for us!
I personally use a hand/wrist mirror because it's the largest thing that's offered in the market currently, but the convex shape is what I dislike the most. In most overcast/ cloudy situations where I live, you can't see dark colored vehicles with no headlights on until they are well within a few seconds behind you. I understand the logic of a convex lens for the helmet mirror as it aides in closer proximity situations, but I would love if someone offers a near flat credit-card sized mirror to attach (elastic or velcro) over gloves so I can see further behind me.

I have some acrylic mirror that I cut and add to my curved helmet mirror. I much prefer it for judging distance with. I use a hand mirror, but personally I think it can confuse drivers, as I can look like your signalling to turn. I can glance at a helmet mounted mirror and see behind faster as well.

I agree, that's why I rather have my hand mirror flat or magnified to see the cars when they're a lot further away - my area isn't bike friendly so I'm sure 99% of the drivers don't even know what hand signals are. Less than 5% of the roads here have a bike lane or a sidewalk, so I ride exclusively during weekend downtimes.

I'm definitely interested in trying this PZ mirror though if cost after shipping is reasonable

Did you see my the part of the  video where I was able to tell there was a car way behind me? That car was probably about half a block behind me. Because the arm of the mirror is farther away from my eyes, I was able to pick out the far oncoming car with clarity and focus. Although my DIY mirror was already good enough, this Pidzoom helmet mirror with its various ways to attach the mirror as well as various lengths of arm is more versatile and offers a clearer view.

I have similar DIY mirror and I wouldn’t want to be without it. Great product. I will likely buy one for my next helmet. I love being aware of what’s behind me when I ride. Hand mirror just isn’t enough.

Is it true that this mirror is pre-order and it won't be shipped out until July according to website? A long wait!

Yes unfortunately.

I like my DIY mirror too. It does the job well. The main advantage of the Pidzoom version is the clearer image the mirror shows due to the longer arm it provides. I will still use my DIY mirror on my other helmet.

We received ours over the weekend and have positive feedback for PidZoom.
Easy to use, good construction, wide visibility, and multiple mounting options right out of the box.
Well done PidZoom. :clap3:

Pidzoom rearview mirror. Pidzoom rearview mirror.

It is a bit raw and untreated footage. 😁

Does anyone argue for using two simultaneously?
I recall seeing someone on the forum with dual mirrors.
What say you?

I like my first set so much that I bought a second set so I can run with a mirror on each side. Putting my money where my mouth is. :)  It looks best to use the small mirror arms if using dual mirrors, in order to not look stupid (with dual long arms) in my opinion. 😂

I would be using two simultaneously, but with my helmet (it's a full face with no visors or anything) it seemed like the only option was to use the long arm, the medium just isn't enough and I couldn't get a good enough angle by mounting it on the lower area of the helmet. Kinda a bummer since now I have extra parts which are not usable with my current helmet and I don't plan on getting a second one either so... It would be better if you could build your own kit so you would not end up with useless arms and/or mirrors. I would gladly just take two long arms, two quick mounts and two convex mirrors and leave everything else out.

I also had issues with the included 3M VHB tape. The mount (which was preinstalled) kept falling from the tape, even though I heated it with a hairdryer before reapplying it. No issues with the tape staying on the helmet though. Replaced it with some of my own and shall see how it holds it.

Other than that, it's simply the best mirror on the market right now, especially for out of the box solutions. Love the quick release, didnt even realize I needed it before I tried it when going to a store etc where you carry your helmet on your euc or in your hand. Don't have to worry about hitting the helmet anywhere if I can just remove it with a press of a button.

I certainly like the 2 mirror approach, primarily because I use pavements whenever I can, and a lot of roads round me only have pavements or cycle paths on one side, meaning that in a standard to/from town journey I often use the same pavement (or cycle path) in both directions, and therefore want to see the road whether it is to the left or right of me. But I find it useful everywhere to be honest - it just means that I can get a view behind me if I look left OR right of centre. More trivial reasons might include things like symmetry of wind drag, redundancy in the field and subjective aesthetics. I am reminded how much I miss the other one when the Summer heat makes me temporarily go back to my TSG pass helmet, which just has the right side mirror, and if I used it regularly I'd probably add the other one.

I find it extremely uncomfortable when installed on the helmet. Stealing part of my visual field, straining my eyes to accommodate, making me move my head to see backwards and looking ridiculous.

So, back to good ol' hand mirror 😂

Otherwise seems good quality and many attachments. If one is into these helmet mirrors.
