First e-bike solid state battery. It’s coming

The e-bike manufacturer Stromer unveiled a prototype of its first solid state ceramic battery pack for an e-bike.

Stromer-Solid-State-battery-e16903050759>Unfortunately, Stromer says solid-state batteries are years away from full-scale production. The technology is ready, but lowering costs to the point that they’re viable for Stromer’s premium pricing is still required. Solid-state batteries cost about eight times more to produce than a current lithium-ion battery.

Hopefully we’ll see this in our EUCs soon enough.

  • Guillaume_k changed the title to First e-bike solid state battery. It’s coming

Sadly the next greatest battery tech that is going to change everything is always just a few years away.

A tip for anyone going to read that website, put your browser into reader mode. Makes it much easier to read a poorly done site.

Oh wow, I had no idea it is still so bad. I assume that is cost per kWh? Hopefully that is just because they are currently just being handmade in labs.

whats their power density like though?
if its 2-4 times more dense, then it may be worth it

We have cells right now that are roughly 2-4 times more power dense that manufactures are choosing not to use, likely because they cost a little more, and have around 15-20% less energy density.

For example Samsung 40T or Molicel P42A. They support around 7c continuous. In a 3,600 Wh pack that’s >25 kW.
