What is wrong with the Extreme Bull X MAX or Xmen?

Recommended Posts

Now that I have gotten used to the 16x I want to be able to keep up with traffic in the city and the maximum allowed speed on surface streets in my city is 45 mph. I was looking at the Extreme Bull commander and it is perfect and from the reviews I've read not that bad. Has everything that I want, the speaker, larger wheel, more speed. Then I saw a Commander X Max and was amazed by how it looks but sadly no North American Retailers have this wheel. Why don't they? Does anybody know?

Hey Onewheelkoregro. You talking about the Extreme Bull Commander Pro? I think that would be better for high speed street riding rather than the Extreme Bull X-Men.  Extreme Bull X-Men does look interesting and tough though, I'm not sure why it wasn't sold in the U.S.

I am considering ordering it from Aliexpress. But am hesitant because it is buying as is

I know@BKW ordered his on Aliexpress recently for around $3K. I follow his channel he seems like a cool guy and he does his homework.

Perhaps the design has been upgraded since it first came out, but I remember crossing this wheel off my list when I saw it didn't have a trolley handle.

Nothing fundamentally wrong with it. The XM is essentially an RS in another design. People weren't too happy about the build quality of the external metal cage thing, though. But it is a viable RS alternative.

I actually like the cage not the fact that it doesn't have a trolley handle though. But the dealer on Alibaba says it comes with a handle. So it looks like this is where the next quarterly bonus is going

Only buy it from there if you are prepared for a living nightmare of technical support if you need it (and you invariably will need it !) by people who don't even know what a monowheel is, and barely speak English !!! Nor will they do any essential setup or checking of the wheel before it is sent out.

Buying my Begode from a proper dealer was the best thing I ever did. And I read thread after thread about what a ball-ache it is to try and wrangle tech support out of aliexpress. To be fair, they do eventually acquiesce in most cases, but it takes months, and they have zero special relationship with any manufacturer of wheels, so they are middlemen who don't know what they are doing, and don't really consider any problem you run into to be theirs once you have received the wheel OK - simple as that.

IMO buying anything from there other than cheap throw-away consumables like lights etc is maximum risky biscuits ! I would NEVER buy a wheel from those people. It might be a bit cheaper initially, but it'll cost you at least the difference in upset, frustration and down-time if you do it. And woe betide you if you have to return it, because guess where you have to send it back to and how much money and time that costs !?

I am the electrical repair specialist at the auto repair shop I work at. If the wheel comes non functional I should be able to figure it out so I'm not too worried about that. Just looking for the best wheel and continue this newfound sport!

Oh Ok, that certainly makes some difference ! But still not to acquiring manufacturer-specific parts, should any fail, which they might ! If your mainboard catches fire, for example, I'd bet no amount of electrical skills will make that work again ! ;)

You can read more in the thread here. Between this and an RS, it's a tossup depending on which wheel you just like more. You can choose between HT and HS, too. I think it just came out at a bad time - just when a new generation of wheels was arriving after the RS gen - so it flew a bit under the radar I guess?

In Europe, EUCsale at least sells them. He also did a review video, it can be found in the thread linked above.

That is true as well. I honestly didn't even consider that. I was thinking more of the lines of electrical connection failures from things bumping around. And since it was even sold in the US I would have to order directly from Extreme Bull... All things I have to factor in regarding my final decision. I am good for right now though. My 16x satisfies my needs, but I am getting hit with, "Please Decelerate" more often now but I would rather hear that than face planting at 30 mph. I appreciate your input! Always nice to get perspective from outside your own head
