plentora
How worried I should be riding KS18XL in for example small drizzle? What are the most prone parts of the wheel to get water inside? Bearings? Batteries? PCB? I've not yet opened my wheel so I don't know the structure of it..
Mossi
I've been riding in monsoonal rains for over 3 years which have even killed my IP 87 rated headlamp but not my wheel. I haven't done anything about it so I wouldn't be concerned. The batteries are wrapped in shrinkwrap and the mainboard sits at the top and is also well protected from moisture. I have no idea about the bearings, but mine are still good after 20,000 kilometers of abuse. If you open the wheel, for example to change the tire, you should definitely replace all the screws. They are of very poor quality and quickly become round. Edited September 14, 2022 by Mossi

Mossi
No, I've never done that and I don't think it's necessary. Water does penetrate the wheel, but simply runs down the inside without causing any damage. However, you should store the wheel upright after it gets wet, at least until it dries again. Miko.cz
I have been riding my KS-16S in every season, also few heavy rains touched me outside on ride. 8000km OK, than, one day one short rain... I was able to normally finish the trip, let it dry in standing position and then - no motor control, everything other worked normally (BT, LEDs). MB replaced (no visible damage). That sounds a bit weird. Could it be coincidence? Of course water is most reasonable explanation for it but it might be bad luck too. Or maybe moisture finished something that was already going bad? As moisture evaporates - some may go upwards in the wheel. Resulting in condensation - that may drip, make motherboard somewhat wet. (Better use "backpack" cover to be extra safe. So no water at all gets inside the wheel itself. Getting wheel well wet it's okey.) On topic: I personally "waterproofed" my motor. Check out my post if wanna.. I also use "backpack" cover when it's raining buckets.. My dad also rides ks16s. In fall almost everyday it's raining. Ks16s 5000km+ ridden without any problems. Doh we both use the backpack cover and have sealed our bearings in grease. Edited September 14, 2022 by Funky
plentora
Maybe using backpack cover isn't completely stupid (I have used it too) and let the wheel dry well before using again. I have a warm boiler room I can place my wheel for overnight drying (probably is enough).
