Funky
I'm happy with my 18xl. Because when i was riding "regular" bike, i was going at 25-35kph speeds. And 18xl can do those speeds easy. I can easily get 55km range from 100% to 50% battery. Weight also is great for this wheel. (Doh i would exchange range for more lighter wheel.. As i rarely go for longer rides than 30km.) I use it more like real "last mileage" wheel. Aka go from home to train, from train to job. Vice versa. Also about speeds.. If you want to go 40 speed, you better get wheel that can do 50 speeds. As riding at top speed limit of the wheel, can be dangerous.. Can get cutout. (If euc stops working - you will hit the ground like hammer on nail.) < Safer to get more powerful euc than you really need. If you want range - recon your wheel will be very heavy. More range = more weight. Most people want to get more wheels.. But why? More speed? More range? - I don't need them. I will get new euc only when "solid state" batteries become reality.
RayRay
For joy rides, I prefer my 18XL as well. A little extra speed might be nice from time-to-time, but I generally prefer to ride in the 15-20mph range and enjoy the scenery (without stress). For going faster, I have a (non-electric) motorized scooter, which is fun, functional, and capable of exceeding moped speeds (35mph). For last mile trips, I alternate between an entry level ebike and a small/light euc. There isn't always room on a train or bus for a bike, but I have a small euc that's easy to carry on with me. The only time I prefer the ebike, is when I'm able to store at a public transit station in a secure locker. The role of these new (heavy) wheels is to replace mopeds, smaller dirtbikes and sporty ebikes. Although I'm tempted, I don't do much off-roading (so, I don't need suspension). Also, I get tired riding in a standing position after about 30mi (so, the increased range is less appreciated). Finally, I'm scared of injury riding much above 30mph (so, I choose two wheels for the added stability and comfort at those speeds).
