Popular Post .....
For what its worth, I don't find my studded pedals to be a safety issue. The very first mounts and dismounts, I almost fell a time or two. It does take you lifting your feet off the pedals and for those of us use to lazily sliding off them, it takes adjustment. The ability to jump off a wheel unimpeded, is something I place a lot of value in. I can say that the studs do NOT get in the way and don't pose a safety issue for me. It took a short time to adjust, but its no big deal. I also find that Im able to reposition my feet just fine. Im sure it takes more effort with studs, but I honestly don't notice. I can say that the studded pedals make me feel MUCH more secure when riding. However, when they get wet, its very odd to feel the slick substance under the studs. Your feet dont really slide around, but it sure does feel like they want to. Studded pedals do help a LOT when it comes to grass on griptape or wet griptape. I am reminded of this, whenver I ride my comfy 18XL in wet grass or thru a puddle, with its big griptape, flat angle, pedals.
