  1. As per the title, I just mounted a pair of Inmotion honeycomb pedals on a V8S. Posting in case anyone needed to do something similar. While the pedals do fit out of the box, they sit at the unridable angle of 36.5°. I also had a constraint that I couldn't modify the V8 (including the pedal hanger). Solution? Create a notch on the inside of the pedal! Based on some rough measurements, I calculated that I needed to take off a ~2mm from the bottom edge to have the pedals sit flat. I'll shim the medals if ever needed to lift them in the future. I tried a few things (dremel, rotary file, hand file) but they were terrible. So I ended up using a power file like: The process wasn't as precise as I'd have liked, but it was good enough. (I forgot to take a picture before I blacked out the surface). The general process I took: Grind pedal. Blacked/painted the bare metal. Mounted it on pedal hanger and wiggled it around. Measured angle with a spirit level app on my phone. If pedals were high, grind down the areas where the metal was exposed under the ink. If I'd had to do this again, I would use a mill (which I don't have) or modified the pedal hangers (but was forbidden by my significant other). I think both would have made this much easier and more precise exercise. Ps. Does this weaken the pedals? Probably. But I think it's sill fine given that the rider is <50kg and the EUC isn't seeing any off-road activity.
  2. I'm still experimenting to see what works for me. At the moment, I kinda like low sensitivity for braking. But I've found at <=33%, the time it takes for the pedals to return to level feels weird to me.

  4. My experience has been about the same as the speeds Tawpie mentioned. When I started, I felt that the balance was manageable once I got to ~12km/h (7.4m/h), and after a few weeks of practice, I now feel that the balance is generally manageable at ~8km/h (5 m/h)... I say "generally" because if there are pedestrians or obstacles close to me, I freak out and lose my ability to balance 🤣
  5. If you happen to know minimum force required to destabilise the EUC reliably, you could add a breakaway connector near the body attachment point. I'm thinking paracord toggles, breakaway ID lanyards, or breakaway tool tethers depending on force requirements.
  6. In my personal experience: When hoping onto the wheel, I really press my dominant leg into the wheel to keep it upright as I try to step on with the other foot. Once both feet are on the EUC, I keep my legs in contact with the wheel, but it's not a tight grip. Something that helped me mounting wasn't to just push with my back foot, but to also consciously put some weight the toes of my dominant foot so that the wheel picks up some speed. The tilt/twist question depends on the speed I'm traveling at. Slow speeds I twist to ride the wheel in the direction of the tilt. I also use something similar to tightwire for balance, waving my hands/arms for small corrections or shifting my torso over the wheel centre of the wheel. It's easier to make small corrections than big corrections. At faster speeds, I correct it by shifting my weight left or right (switching bent/straight legs) to tilt the wheel back.

  8. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it via the search. I'm trying to customise the sounds via the Inmotion app (Android) via: Gear/Settings > Sound Customization > DIY > DIY Single Sound Effect Sounds such as on/off, bluetooh connection, etc. I've been able to change to MP3 files with no problems. But sounds such as the speed warning beep and "be careful" (when I drop the wheel on its side) that I cannot customise. When I try to change them, I'm only given the option of sounds from a Library (and a subset of the full library) and no way to select a file/recording on my phone. Is there a way to replace them with custom sounds? Or am I stuck with minimal options.
  9. It could be that I'm still slow to shift my weight backwards while stopping. Using the method you mentioned, I can throw my weight backwards much faster and needing less time & distance to stop. I definitely agree about the speed thing... just need the space to be comfortable going faster. I can't wait get outdoors but it has been rain and I'm still waiting for the full face helmet to arrive (express shipping that turned out to be slower than regular mail).
  10. Thanks all! I think I'm getting the hang of this now. I found a comfortable foot position and can accelerate and decelerate without too much trouble. I think I'm a little slow shifting my weight but I guess it'll get better with practice. Thanks for this tip. I've been practicing this on relatively slow speeds (8-10km/h) and it works a treat! Do I risk having the same issue if I adjusted the pedals to tilt forwards via an app? I've been playing around and been finding that adjusting it to 1 or 2 degrees forwards seem to be a little more comfortable in some situations for me (undecided if I'll keep it that way).
  11. Are you saying that I should be holding it level on the pitch and roll axis and run the calibration process from the inmotion app? I should be able to do that.
  12. If only my experience has been as easy as that video. With a higher tire pressure and a more forwards foot position, I'm now reliably free mounting and riding the entre length of the hallway in a straight line, and coming to a controlled stop at the end. Now it's just waiting for my safety gear so that I can go outside with more space to practice & learn other skills like turning XD Can confirm, you are forced to get better balance when the fauna is trying to kill you. Despite knowing that's how it's supposed to work, it's taken me a while to overcome the fear of leaning forwards. Btw, thanks for the braking tip. I'll try that when I finally get some speed. Nope. Is that something that needs to be done out of the box? Everything "feels" level as far as my noob senses can tell.

Update: I've tried increasing the tire pressure and standing further forwards and I'm travelling better now. 70% of the time make it across the hallway (~8m) in a fairly straight line... this is up from 0% from the start of this thread. Putting my ankles at/near the pedal's centre makes it harder to stop, but it allows me to move faster (brisk walking speed), which in turn makes me more comfortable with moving quicker. And I'm beginning to be able to push through the mental block that's stopping me from leaning forwards. I tried doing the same off a wall but I'd often come to a stop shortly after leaving the wall. My problem was that my body just doesn't want to lean forwards at an angle that puts me off balance. Some reflexes are hard to overcome... especially a lifetime of trying not to fall on my face 🤣

  15. I've just started learning am having trouble deliberately moving forwards. If I hold onto the wall, I can comfortably move the wheel forwards and backwards, but if I'm away from the wall I seem to slow to a crawl and stop. I'm on a V11 and in case it matters, ~20psi tires in a carpeted hallway. I think the carpet makes my life more difficult, but I'm making do with what I've got as I'm waiting for my safety gear to arrive and I'm not comfortable going outside with the wheel yet. I've been trying to free mount and glide but what's seems to be happening is that as soon as I lift my non-dominant foot up (placed on pedal or left in the air), I slow to almost a stop (I fall off before then). The only way I've been able to reliably move forwards is by slightly standing on my tip toes, slightly raise my heel. But I don't believe that's sustainable as it's really fatiguing and the arches of my feet ache after each practice session (20-30mins). Is there a technique I'm missing or is it a a mental block that I'm facing?
