Probably the biggest downside with 3D printing the shell (and gluing the assembly together) is the parts are only strong(ish) along XY plane and less so along the z-axis due to the layer bonding effect. Too many random out of plane forces are imparted in wrecks and even vibration from normal use going over the road & uneven surfaces can cause large 3D-printed semi-structural parts used like this to delaminate or crack over time. For long term use, it'd be better to go with a filament that doesn't weaken from UV exposure too. That said, looks like a great proof of concept and learning experience.
