Has anyone come across this icon on the S22 display or know what it means?

It was rather cold when I got the error (35* F or so) and had been powered off for hours at around 90%. It did go away after a few minutes of being on and after riding a few feet.

I checked the BMS but nothing out of the ordinary. Could it be just a battery temp warning?

I've never seen that, but acknowledge not looking closely. What mainboard firmware? They did have a too-cold-we're-limiting-speed 'feature' in 2.25 IIRC, but they removed it in .26 and .27

I saw it once after riding high speed for a while on older main/bms firmware.  I thought maybe some warning from BMS, went away pretty quick. Definitely could be temperature related, haven't seen it for a while now.
