As for the Fastwheel ring, it is a very different machine with a small, model aircraft like, brushless motor driving a sort of planetary gearbox. It results in a very light 6.8kg wheel but has a disappointing 18kph top speed. Surprisingly it is an 18" wheel. Certainly well worth a closer look if only to know if it's plus points outweigh its minus points.
