Popular Post btl
Hi, while looking though ebay with only motorcycle size in the search box and no name, the Heidenau K42 came up, too. I found the tread interesting, the price was low, so i got one to try it out. The tire is nicely rounded, like the K66 or the original Kenda street tire, therefore it rides pretty nice. Since the tread is very rough, you can feel it humming on asphalt, but carving and turning feels good and natural. On muddy and wet off road the rough tread plays out and gives plenty of grip, much more control than with the Heidenau K66 i was riding before. A CST-186 or Kenda K262 has a higher pitched hum, wich is also louder than the K66 or this K42, because the knobbies are diagonal oriented. I think i'll keep this one on for winter, and put the K66 back in for summer. Be safe and keep riding, btl Edited December 30, 2021 by btl
Funky
Would love to know it's width, and height from where tire/rim meets. <3 Same as K66?
btl
Hi, on the narrow Gotway rim the tire is 70mm wide (at widest point, with knobbies) and 60mm high from the rim. The 80/80-14 size relates to the tire beeing mounted on a 1.85x14" "standard rim". i guess 1.85" is the width of the rim, and the gotway rim is a good bit narrower. Hmm K66 width was ~73-76mm on both 80/80 & 80/90 also classic rim.. Height for 80/90 was 65mm Funny thing both count as "80" width. Would it be possible to cut some knobs on sides, to make it more narrow? How much would it be possible to cut, till tire side walls? If i would mount it on 40mm rim, it would also be more narrower? Versus your 1.85" (47mm? rim?) Edited December 31, 2021 by Funky
btl
Let me measure once more, the tire lost its pressure. Good possibility its was already flat when I took measurements.
btl
Pics of measurements of the not mounted K42 And K66 for reference, pretty much same. When mounted on the rim both are 70-71mm wide. 73-76mm wide i can only imagine on the wider Sherman rim.
