Nikola vs 16x for experienced rider

I just picked up my new wheel from ecodrift and it's a used 18L . In short, the price was good and the weight comfortable. 

I was initially considering a new 16X (1319€), 18XL (1353€), S18 (1499€) or V11 (1691€). A new 18L costs 1200€ (but an XL makes more sense). The used 18L (v2) I purchased had 5000km over 1.5 years and was sold to me for 730€ + 50€ for servicing (straightening minor rim dents, new bearings, fixing waterproofing where needed). The wheel boasts an impressive list of add-ons:

• ecodrift waterproofing (usually around 10% of new EUC cost, i.e. 120€ for an 18L),
• hextech hangers and pedals (200€), 
• alexa leather pads (73€)
• alexa neoprene cover (56€)
• cobra jump pads (28€)

That's 477€ worth of add-ons on the wheel, most of which I would order anyway (especially hex pedals and waterproofing).

They only had a limited choice of EUCs to try on site, so I rode (only indoors) the V11, Nik+ and 18L. I also tried lifting, carrying and trolleying these wheels (and the S18) around. Subjectively, I found the 18L weight comfortable -- like the 16S it feels moderately heavy to me, I can carry it upstairs without serious warmup or taking breaks. The V11 on the other hand felt decidedly heavy to lift and required care (not to get hurt). The Nik was a bit uncomfortable and I suspect my hand might grow tired with the open grip (at the same time it's clever since you can carry it without closing pedals). I also didn't particularly like the low and wide shape for riding. Obviously, the 18L felt natural since it is quite similar to the 16S ergonomically.

Anyway, I particularly liked the 18L price in conjunction with its reliability reputation and the offer of inspecting and fixing it at the shop before purchase. The used wheel strategy also lets me sell it in a year or later without too much loss. By that time I will be more accustomed to heavier EUCs and might want something bigger (and with suspension!) - 2022 might be as exciting as 2020 for EUCs!

What about the Nik+ AR it has a ~+950wh bigger battery(2700wh) than the v12(1750Wh) it would give a lot more range and if batteries slowly die down like with my v8 it would be a longer living wheel. Of course, if you care about the speed the v12 is 10km/h faster(60 for Nikola and 70 km/h for v12 but for me, Nikola is fast enough.

I've actually hit 44.6mph/~70kmh on my AR+ but I don't think I will EVER do it again lol. Phone froze (and I have EUC World routing my beeps through my BT speaker) so I never got any beeps. Looked at my watch and it kept saying I was going 37mph despite me leaning forward more. I got worried so I straightened out my lean and it finally updated and starting blaring at me super loud. I must've been real close to a cutout lol

Hi! Recently my Nikola+ 100V cannot connect to EUC World app (already updated to latest version). Does anyone have a similar problem?

This is an old thread, but I'd probably go with the Nikola over the 16X due to speed alone, and I've never even rode a Nikola before
