level9
A friendly reminder. It's fall! and that means... falling.. Just had my first (low speed) erm... fall on my EUC after ~3 months and ~1k miles. Was crusing down the road. Decided to do a fast U-turn. Hit the brakes hard, then turned into a driveway and onto a sidewalk and hit the gas at the same time and.. the wheel disappeared. I didn't lose balance. The wheel simply just.... vanished. Tuck and rolled it out with just a few scrapes here and there as luckily I flew and landed on the neighbor's mulched flowerbed. Cause? Acorns. Leaves. Debris. Be careful out there. This stuff is like ICE!
OldFartRides
Was thinking about that very thing on my evening ride. Wet or dry, leaves can mess us up.
Bumblebees
Hope you and your wheel are okay.
level9
I'm OK as is the wheel. I was doing a very sharp turn at the time and I initially impacted on the side of my face and my arm. Rolled it out so didn't lose any skin there but it's a good reminder I really need to be wearing a full face helmet. You just can't predict what's going to hit the ground first. I only got some rash on the lower legs with one nasty gash just above my ankles which I think came from the EUC itself as it spun around and out of control (I was in shorts).
