All about the Sherman-S laser tail light

Recommended Posts

For future reference:

  1. Cable circuits (3):
    Always-on +5V; PWM signal; Ground.
    1/8" TRS jack connector.

  2. Tail lamp modes (2):
Active; Off. Control is from the EUC power button short-press.

  3. Laser modes (4):
Force-on: a latching switch inside the tail lamp provides full-brightness always-on lasers.
Breathing / Blinking / Off. Control is from the EUC light button long-press.

  4. Laser diodes run at ~3.1V, regulated within the tail lamp.

  5. LED's are actually RGB, but it seems the EUC only sends them a red color command.

The laser force-on switch likes to get stuck and is difficult to press and release fully. Wiggle the rubber cap with a pointy tool, if yours isn't latching.

(I don't know the maximum output current of the 5V supply from the controller to the tail lamp.)

The laser force-on switch is in the 5V circuit, so it might make a convenient control for additional 5V accessories, which could be attached to the pin marked below; but usually it's better to just strap another USB power bank to the EUC for add-on devices, which avoids possibility of overload or interference.
