I responded to it before it was deleted.

Why lie when anyone can easily scroll up and see that the redaction happened Saturday 7AM after which you responded Tuesday, 3 days later to this deleted content that was apparently only up for about 6 hours. This itself being quite peculiar as either there’s a function that allows regular users to see deleted content I’m unaware of or you copied the text to then take 3 days to come up with a response offline then posted it without scrolling up to check whether there was even anything still there to criticize in the first place. That’s… a little weird dude.

You also contradicted yourself in the last thread and then lied about that too. So why lie repeatedly now when A} it’s easy to prove and B} you know I’m just going to call you out on it?

Your ignorant ad hominem attacks don't bother me. I hope they don't get deleted or locked. Maybe you when you find the source of your misplaced anger, you can look back and laugh?

Does it help protect your ego to pathologize my responses as a product of anger rather than protecting another forum member from undue and unjust criticism in what legitimately appears as a completely unnecessary thread derailment attempt?

I have friends and relatives of various ethnicities who read these forums. Not all of them participate in the discussion. But it affects them when derogatory things are said. If that bothers you, too bad. I want them to know that they are welcome here.

“Hey everyone, some guy on the internet who has a post history of being extremely respectful accidentally said an unfashionable word you might take offense to, although the word was obviously used in a context where no offense was intended and then they removed it unprompted shortly afterward meaning you’d never even know about it if I didn’t go around telling you first, but thankfully I’m here to protect you from slightly uncomfortable speech online by a random internet strangers you might have encountered between the hours of 1 and 7AM!”

“Bro, wtf…”

I'm not interested in arguing, especially with you. I'm interested in civil discussions.

We haven’t left the realm of civility yet and I'm usually pretty partial to debate, but this is started to feel like a one sided beating so

In fact, I believe the only comment I've ever made to you directly was to suggest a local resource for EUC trails to ride when you were in the area where I live.

I remember that. Haha yeah, it pretty much sucked there, but I mostly knew what I was getting into and don’t begrudge well meaning free advice.

All of your personal attacks aren't going to make me angry or bother me in any way. If they make you feel better, awesome. I'll just keep talking to you like an adult until you wear yourself out.

It's simple: You are angry because 1) I asked someone to keep immigrant bashing out of an EUC discussion and 2) I told someone that "negro" is an offensive term for a Black person. Reminder: neither time was I talking to you. You chose to jump in.

First, you should definitely call the next Black person you meet  a "negro" and see if their response is that the term is "unfashionable." Whether you got your ass beat, got educated by someone smarter than you, or--most likely--you got ignored or laughed at, I bet you'd learn nothing.

Second, since you are focused on unimportant details, I'll help you get past them.

You are actually right about something. My reply to @iwantmymtv did sit for a few days before I came back to that browser tab and saw I never hit the button. So what other reason can you come up with to call me a liar?

Since my timing bothers you enough to spend so much thought on it, here are some more details. I didn't look to see if the post was deleted for a couple reasons: 1) it didn't/doesn't matter. 2)The quote was still there in my reply. I don't know how the forum software works. But I can tell time.

Re: your bizarre imaginings about me and the sequence of events, it looks to me like the post was "redacted" four hours after I made my comment. Also, maybe logic will help you: Why else would he have deleted the offensive post if not because it got brought up? It had sat there for quite a while before I saw it. My comment was simple: I wanted to know why he had used that offensive term. I didn't ask him to delete the post, but I respect his decision. In fact, reading back through his comments, he seems much more calm, civil and thoughtful than you. He seems like he might be the kind of person with an opposing view who can actually have a civiI conversation. I have friends and coworkers like that. I kinda wish he had answered the question.

If I had known someone would not understand timestamps and get angry enough to make bizarre assumptions about me... that wouldn't have mattered either. People who behave like that don't factor into my decisions. I'm not trying to "do" anything except say something when bigotry pops up. I've already told you why. If you insist on thinking I have some other motivation, that's your right.

Last thing: You link to the locked thread about immigration. It is a good example of the downside of locking threads. By the time I come back and see one angry attack that's worth responding to mixed in with all the angry nonsense, I can't reply to it. People like yourself end up thinking they made a "gotcha" that matters to the larger subject.

I'm pretty sure that explaining things like implicit meaning and context will be lost on you. But since you brought it up again, here's where you got confused:

I didn't contradict myself. I just didn't write clearly enough. "Immigration didn't kill American Manufacturing. Automation did" should have been "Immigration didn't kill off American manufacturing jobs. Automation did." Since the subject at that moment was immigrants and foreigners, and one of the usual myths is that "They took our jobs" I think it was implied that I was talking about number of jobs lost, not the amount of production itself. I spelled out what I meant for you later, also not clearly enough I guess. Again, outsourcing and immigrant labor did have some effect on job losses. You correctly pointed out that cheap labor (and I'll add cheap container shipping) took some production overseas. But automation has had much more of an affect on jobs over the entire history of manufacturing. Manufacturing has increasingly returned to America but jobs haven't, because automation has improved to the point where most jobs can be done by robots. Build here with robots and avoid labor and shipping costs.

All that to explain an ambiguous statement you call a lie (for what purpose?) when the real point got lost in your digressions and personal attacks: blaming immigrants for taking desirable jobs from Americans is dumb because it is demonstrably false.

I'd like to think that I'm done responding to somebody who thinks personal attacks and insults are useful communication. But who knows what colorfully foul comments you'll make next that might get me to waste more time?

I'm going to try to resist though. Happy Thanksgiving.*

*Americans have a lot to be thankful for, even the MAGA cult that has been trained to think otherwise.

One example: we are able to afford an enjoyable but very expensive hobby. (Despite being forced by imaginary socialists to abandon greed and give all of our hard earned dollars to those less fortunate, just as the true and rightful leader of our country, J. H. Christ, (not the spray-tanned flag-molester), inconveniently commanded us over and over again, clearly and unambiguously.

See? Cracking jokes is much more fun than getting angry.
