GothamMike
I've worn the padded hockey pants, and I just picked up a pair of Football Pants. Both have lots of hip and rear padding. On a cold day, keeping the groin area warm is hard. Hockey Pants help. I think the built in knee padding on Football pants would not work with the BMX knee/shin pads we typically wear, and they are very snug. superox
Forget about all this. Go to moto shop, get proper motorcycle pants. You might be fine with their built in padding, or take them out and wear hard kneeguards like Leatts over them. The upside is that they likely have hip padding, but are also made of abrasion-resistant materials, which will let you avoid road rash if you fall. Moto jeans work like regular jeans but will have internal kevlar lining to protect you. Regular denim and most other materials do nothing against road rash.
