blox1130
Hi, I am trying to replace the bearings on my MCM5 and have gotten the motor off. The problem is the side with the phase wires coming out of the axle, because I can't fit a socket wrench over top the wires without cutting them off. Is there any way to unscrew the nut holding the pedal hanger on without cutting the wires?
Tawpie
Many people take an angle grinder to a socket to cut a slot for the wires... but you can also use a podger (socket open on both ends, mostly used for assembling scaffolding. search for "podger wrench"). Amazon has a plethora, Harbor Freight and the other big box stores must carry them as well. Mayhem
an offset box wrench can also work or make a notch in the appropriate sized socket for the wires to stick out through. (Similar to an O2 sensor socket.)
blox1130
Ok, those are both good ideas, thanks. I'll see if I can get the podger wrench to work! One would think they would make the pedal hanger disassemble by just unscrewing some bolts like I've seen on some other wheels.
