Aztek
You know the rubber things with spikes used on the shoes in the winter? Like How about putting such the other way around on the pedals? Anyone tried? It happens I have a pair and they seem to stay stable on the pedals. I'll report how they work. Aztek
It works. Actually too well. I sprained my ankle a bit in a tight curve due to the spikes keeping my foot on the pedal.
Tawpie
I used them for a while in mud and snow and they worked surprisingly well. I switched to studded grip tape though, it's a little more expensive than the shoe cleats but at least on the set of cleats I bought I lost a few of them fairly quickly. They came with spares, but I think because they're stretched really tightly that the cleats can't stay in very well. In my book studded grip tape wins for budget and not labor intensive studding of pedals, but those shoe cleats are excellent as a temporary solution.
