Tesla battery researcher says they doubled lifetime of batteries in Tesla’s products 4 years ahead of time

Is this real? I have heard great news about batteries too many times to believe in them.

This is referring to increasing the number of charge cycles the cells can take before significant degradation, which would be really nice from a cost and environmental position.  I commend anyone who is pushing forward with that.  But I will be more excited when they can double the capacity of the cells.  6AH 18650s would be so nice to have in our wheels.
