zigro
I’ve seen pictures the MTEN4 with a bent metal frame. Has anyone thought of or tried welding or JB welding some metal strips on the outside to stiffen/brace it? Good or bad idea? Thanks
OldSolo
Funny you mention that, as I was pondering something like that when i was removing pieces on my A2. I was thinking fiberglass fabric + epoxy, as the composite will have different characteristics than the metal. I would not use metal, but a couple of layers of glass fabric w/ carefully brushed epoxy. Anyone out there ever build fiberglass sub enclosures in a car? Same idea, but I would suggest epoxy rather than polyester resin. The A2 frame has a couple of stiffening ribs added, but it's a marginal sort of application. They really need some engineers who understand structural mechanics (and suspension dynamics). Edited December 20, 2023 by OldSolo
zigro
Do you think if I tried welding on the frame, would it short or fry any electronics? Or do I need to disassemble before welding on the frame?
