Absolutely correct! The US tariffs on China have not taken place yet. The US is currently in the bargaining stage with China in an attempt to balance the trade deficit. I am not worried yet. The US stock market is a great barometer to evaluate the current status of the trade talks. If the market tanks for an entire week then I’ll become worried but currently the market is bouncing around like a ping pong ball into both positive and negative territories. WARPed1701D
Its funny how the greatest supporters of these tariffs are also the ones who shout about small government, liberty, and freedom. Where is my freedom to choose between a high priced US made good and a cheap Chinese one. Isn't that my choice rather than be strong armed by the government. Hypocrisy rules! As already stated corporate greed and consumer demand to get more and more for less and less (looking at Walmart... The mecca of many supporting these tariffs) caused this problem, not free trade. Consumers are the ones who need to correct their way of thinking. Don't supporters of minimal regulation preach that corporations will regulate themselves based in consumer demand? Quit buying Chinese regardless of the financial toll on your wallet and eventually corporations will get the message.

You're a Brit living in America, at our pleasure, mocking us for taking a stand to promote job growth in the US. And some American could be doing whatever job you're doing here in the US, when you're not mocking supporters of a healthy manufacturing industry and pretending we're all libertarian no-regulation, fundamentalist hypocrites. I wouldn't move to England, take a job from an Englishman, and then mock Englishmen for wanting to create more jobs for Brits. Nor would I place my desire (as a foreigner) for buying cheap Chinese goods above the rights of UK citizens to fight for their own national interests. novazeus
china has tariffs. BEIJING — A Jeep Wrangler can cost $30,000 more in China than in the United States — and the reasons illustrate a growing point of tension between the two countries. Manufactured in Toledo, Ohio, the Wrangler is a descendant of the jeeps that were used by American forces in World War II. Equipped with a 3.6-liter engine and a five-speed automatic transmission, the Rubicon edition of the Wrangler has a suggested retail price of $40,530 in the United States. But in China, the same vehicle would set a buyer back by a hefty $71,000, mostly because of taxes that Beijing charges on every car, minivan and sport utility vehicle that is made in another country and brought to China’s shores. Circuitmage
So, good to know the tax isn't in place yet. A 25% tax on anything is enough to kill trade on items like this. Hopefully the next gen wheels get in before this hits, or we will need an underground. There is hope.
