How to remove a wheel from the Gotway app

Hi gang. I have a pending sale of my current Msuper V3S+ in a month and a half or so; when that happens I’ll be getting a brand new wheel, same model. My question to you experienced owners is will I have a problem with de-registering the old wheel from the Gotway app, and will my buyer have a problem registering the old wheel as his when he downloads the app? I assume that I can easily register my new wheel when it comes, I’m guessing the app doesn’t care if I log two wheels (in the event that the old one doesn’t sell and I go ahead and make my purchase anyway) but I am curious if I’ll have problems de-registering the old wheel and if my buyer will have problems registering that wheel. Can someone give me a description of how the process will go and how I get it done when it’s time? I haven’t seen any options for this stuff in the app that I can remember. I took a cursory look through the forum to find out if this topic already exists but didn’t find anything. Not sure if I searched using the right verbiage. If a discussion exists feel free to toss me a link and I’ll go see what was said. Thanks all.

I don't think there's any de-registering...

When my ACM broke, I simply used the app with the new one, and that was it. Which is what you can do.

Pretty sure all you need is any valid Gotway motor code to register an account so the app starts in the first place. That's all. I don't think there's even a technical capability to read any wheel serials/motor codes/whatever from the board, those are just stickers on the board/tire/packaging.

If the buyer can't register an account with "your" used motor code (which may happen), simply give out your new motor code (from the new wheel) to him to use instead.

So don't use your new motor code in case the buyer needs it. You're effectively selling a wheel + an unused motor code for making an account.

Also: the 1.0/pre-social app works without any accounts, and even third party apps can change settings now and are better anyways. You won't even need the official GW app. I'd avoid that crap.

Thanks so much for the feedback meepmeepmayer! I appreciate it. The only challenge with your last comment is that on iOS at least, there are very few third party apps and the ones that are available won’t change the ride settings, so unfortunately I “need that crap” to be able to use the wheel properly. Currently I open the Gotway app to set the ride setting and then close the app and open DarknessBot to get all of my other metrics. As soon as an app comes along that will set all parameters I’ll abandon the Gotway app.

Eh, yes, on iOS you can't downgrade. But I was under the impression the iOS third party apps (Darknesbot and Gyrometrics) could essentially do everything. Apparently not.

Anyways, just make sure the app works with the new wheel without doing anything (I give no guarantees, but this was how it was for me on Android), and then you can give the new motor code to the old wheel's buyer. Or just give him your old account info and make a new one for yourself.

Are you intending to upgrade to the rumored Tesla-ized ms3? Wondering why you'd sell yours otherwise. Just curious.:efee47c9c8:

Thanks meepmeepmayer. Actually I have a buddy who wants into wheel ownership, and we’re both sold on the Gotway Msuper V3S+. We came up with the idea of him buying my old one for half price of new (it’s quite used, quite beat up) to let him join the sport easier, and I put his money towards a new one. New one bought! It’s being shipped as we speak, now just waiting until my buddy can break away and come on down for a visit. Should be fun.
