@davidlastra- this sounds like bms lock down, which can be released by attaching the charger.

I don't know about the p, since this model was more or less abandoned before it was really realeased. But the predecessor, the one e+ had similar bms behaviour once single cell undervoltage or battery overcurrent happened.

By the age of this wheel i'd guess single cell undervoltage is the cause, hence rhe batteries are not fine but decaying.
