so my friend just destroyed my one e+

Sigh.  He drove it into a section of drywall and kept leaning it forward while it was wedged against the wall.  After we pulled it back from the wall, it wouldn't balance itself, was constantly beeping, and literally smoke was coming out from behind the pad.  The wheel turns very roughly now too, even while powered off.  If you power cycle it, it tries to stand up straight (fails), beeps constantly, and smokes some more within a few seconds.

It's already been shipped off to New Jersey to the ninebot us repair shop.  Anyone care to venture a guess what is damaged and how much I'm looking at for repairs?

Sounds like the motor could have shorted while stuck and fried the mainboard... shouldn't the mainboard detect that the motor isn't spinning and cut power from the motor (or lower it)?

Does it go under warranty or do you have to pay out of your own pocket?

Edit: From SpeedyFeet, don't know if it's more or less elsewhere:

Ninebot ONE E+ Replacement Main Control Board

Nah it wasn't intentional.  Here's a little bit clearer explanation of what happened:

I have a trolley handle attached to my unit, so there's a bracket permanently attached to the front.  The handle was removed at the time, but the bracket was there of course.  He drove the NB into a wall by accident and the bracket dug into the drywall while the unit was leaning forward.  So, since the unit was leaning forward it was constantly trying to drive deeper into the wall.  Personally, I would have immediately hit the power button once I saw it was stuck, but he didn't know any better.  He was just trying to pull the unit backwards against the power of it trying to drive forward.  It took him a few seconds to get it dislodged from the wall, but the damage was done at that point.

I'll follow up with what the NB shop says.

No I haven't forgotten to update this thread. Ninebotus has had my unit for over a month now. I'm getting pretty fed up with how long it's taking to repair it. I mean how many different parts can there possibly be to test?

I get an update once every 10 days with some lame excuse as to why they aren't done yet and that's only when I harass them for an update.

Seriously, what has to happen to get my freaking unit back?

So its finally back. 7.5 weeks total. They replaced the motherboard and added a few spacers just because.  They didn't say more than that and they waived the 1.5 hours of labor.  .... *no comment*

Hopping on, it immediately felt like it refused to go as fast as my newest nb1 which is the same model, an e+.

It's not the speed limiter function either. It tops out around 12 to 13 whereas I can coax my other unit I to hold steady at 13 to 14 before it starts beeping.  I definitely feel this unit holding back. I have 360 miles on my other unit as a basis for comparison.

I haven't had a chance to pop it open yet, but earlier today I turned it on and it started vibrating, then the vibrations got worse and worse until the unit almost shook itself to death. It looked like it was having an insane spaz-attack.  I could barely get my finger on the power button to kill it.

Since then, the forward/backward motion now makes a loud knocking sound and there's a ton of "play" between forward and backward...... sigh......

That's really inexcusable considering how long they took to "fix" it. Doesn't give me much confidence to purchase with the "Official" Ninebot US store if their service takes longer than sending it overseas....

So was there anything professional in how they talked with you or did they apologize for the delay? Or were they pretty much nonchalant about the whole thing?

Because If I ever need to purchase another Ninebot in the future, I may seriously consider someone overseas instead of the official us store..

Good luck, I'm glad at least you have another one to ride in the meantime.

They didn't really talk much about how long it took other than waving the 1.5 hours of labor.

New drama though - I popped the cover pad to find out there is only a 240Wh battery in my E+.    Mobo version 1.3.

I don't know if THEY put the wrong battery in or if my unit always had a 240Wh battery.  Either way, they owe me a 320Wh battery at this point - regardless of the repairs.

I'm about at my wits end with this whole process.  Not really anywhere I can escalate this to, though.

Without access to Serials, IF its a E+ its one of the first batches since the No. starts with N1O... There is a minor difference with those, I think it only has one screwhole on the front opposed to 2. The majority of the E+ should start with N2O.... I got one of the N1E series myself and can confirm that it has a 320Wh battery.

Can you raise the case to the Ninebot US Management (assuming its more than one guy working there)? Maybe you can complain at Ninebot China and tell them about the "Quality" of their Retailers if the situation doesnt improve after 9B-US management contact. I bet Ninebot China is very interested how their retailers handle their customers, since they represent the brand indirectly as well.

And as a Ninebot customer that chose them FOR their worldwide dealers network to get quick and fast repairs if something breaks, am following this with great interest. I am even inclined to put them to a test by randomly ordering a spare part.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure Ninebot China would be very interested to hear how their US counterpart is representing their Public Image. It may be possible to refer a Ninebot China Rep to this link. I'll have to see if I can track one down.

This is probably the number one reason why I chose to go with Ninebot for my first wheel, I liked that you could order or at least locate dealers who sold spare parts relatively easily. And the design is very modular, making it easy to swap out individual pieces as they get damaged.

I've recently learned King Song also allows the purchase of spare parts through their distributors. I know Kale here is expecting a shipment over the next few weeks himself.

My reasoning is that the wheel/s you have now should hopefully be able to be maintained and kept running for years to come in case you ever want to pass them on to family and friends. :)

I wonder now if your wheel has the 1.2.6 firmware in it.  Maybe Ninebot US did actually fix it (as long as they took) and the 1.2.6 firmware is the cause of the vibrating... like @SirGeraint's thread pinned at the top of this board has mentioned happens when they try to turn on their units. Can you check your firmware version?

Jdestef, so sorry to hear this.  Ninebotus distributor needs to get their act together, they probably too so long because they're trying to find a technician willing to do the repair work.

Yes. I got the unit back yesterday.  They charged me anotehr 300$ for a new motor.  It came back with 1.2.7 on it.  I rode it around last night and this morning.

Now the bad part:

I upgraded to 1.2.9 just about 15 mins ago, and within 30 seconds the unit powered off suddenly and won't turn back on.  It rolls very badly now too.

Don't suppose you know what the motor 'revision' is - from paperwork, or by looking up through the side frame?

Sorry to hear your upgrade has put you out of action again, especially after spending money on fixing it the first time!  :(

looking for something like 'AMK6-500' maybe?
