Barrett Roberts
So the wheel arrived yesterday. Along with the fast charger. I can see this will be an extended process to learn. A bit concerned that the tire says max load 90kg.. but other than that it seems like a solid device. Cant quite figure out the app to do the auto level process. Inner knees already bruised ? Meng Yang
What's your height? I'm 5'4" and estimated KS-18S to be too tall for me (top of shell will hit inside of knee), thus have ordered a Gotway Tesla instead (since KS-18L's arrival is unknown). I'm 6' tall and like the fact that my KS18AY comes to just below my knees and if I was shorter, I'm sure that I'd still really like the height of it. I also have the Inmotion V8 and feel the KS18 is much more stable below me. Not just because of the extra 2" of wheel size, but because with it being taller, it is between more of my legs thus allowing it to stabilize more with less wobble. And it's nice to be able to throw your knees around if you want to steer it also.
Meng Yang
I also like the height of my V8 more than the low height of my X3. Like you said, the knees can be used to grip the top of the V8 to control its stability. I like that. Ideally, an EUC height between that of the V8 & KS-18S would suit me best. No surprise you said KS18 more stable than V8 coz I feel V8 is (1) too light and (2) top heavy and (3) high pedals. Glad the Tesla is heavier, lower weighted and lower pedals relative to the V8. I shouldn't worry about it, the tyre manufacturer expected it to be used on a two wheeled vehicle. I'm not aware of anyone bursting one yet! Barrett Roberts
Ok, So after getting the left to right wheel motion down I can now ride in a straight line for a good ways. Unfortunately I scraped up my KS pretty good in the learning process. I'm not sure there is any avoiding that for the most part. I tried the strap but it was making things feel way more awkward
Barrett Roberts
Can go a few hundred feet now and starting to get the turns down. So glad I found this forum and the huge amount of knowledge contained on this sport.

Once you get so that you can keep going and only stop when you want to, purposely seek out bumps and get use of the feel of how it moves under you when hitting bumps. After a while, you will learn to relax the legs/knees more and you will be surprised and natural it feels to just ride over bumps without slowing down that much. Barrett Roberts
Good to know! I've already been getting the hang of starting off without bracing on anything. I figured I might as well learn now.

Yeah it's pretty messed up at this point but hey it's ok if I end up loving the sport I will get another one. It still drives just fine. Only cosmetic damage. I can now ride it through a bumpy yard without coming off until I want to do so. Still not the best at turning yet. I'm sure it will come. It's funny I was talking to my brother about it now that he is out of the hospital. I compare learning to ride an EUC to learning the onewheel like this... If the onewheel+ process is like gentle exfoliation of your feet by doctor fish then the EUC is like piranha ripping at your dangly bits. ? Barrett Roberts
I'm pretty happy with my progress at this point. Today I managed to get nice consistent u turns using the one leg straight one leg bent method. I also managed to so several rides over water channels and up onto smooth curbs. I am thinking riding up on the vertical curbs. Looks like you would be asking for a faceplant to me. So I would estimate I've got about 6-7 hours on it at this point. Now I mainly need to refine my technique so I can ride much more smoothly than I do right now. Mostly at low speeds I have to constantly move the wheel back and forth to maintain balance. US69
I have 850km on my 18S now...and had about 1500km on my 18a :-) 18S is the smoothest and best wheel i have ever had.... Yes, the high Shell Needs some time to get used to it...especially on curves and slow driving, but i gets into blood after a while like on every other wheel.
