I have a few questions related to the Mten3.

If you lay it on its side while on, will it free wheel?

If you lay it on its side while on, will it stay on without an alarm sounding?

If you tip it back-up from lying on its side can you step on and ride away? If so, is their any delay before you can ride away?

Can the 10x3 wheel handle a ride through golf course quality turf?

No

No. The alarm will beep four times and then stop

Yes. Takes a few seconds before it starts balancing.

Can the 10x3 wheel handle a ride through golf course quality turf?

I'm a little perplexed on your interest in this 

Pretty much every Gotway and KingSong (and others?) use a piezoelectric buzzer to create the beep sound. If you have viewed more than a couple of videos surely you've heard it. If not, watch more videos 

Four beeps, one per second.

No, they can't be disabled unless you want to open the wheel and disconnect the wires going to the buzzer.

I'm sure they could be muffled like any electronic device can be muffled. How would be up to you.

Please allow me to detail my interest. I am an avid golfer who generally walks while hunting for my golf ball. Last January I came across a video of a guy using a "mini-pro" while playing golf and instantly thought "this could be the better way". My research then led me to Electric Unicycles and Jason McNeil. I now own four (Thank you Jason) wheels. I currently use my 16S for on-course transportation. Allow me to explain.

After paying for golf (cart included, I usually put my bag in the cart) and getting the approval from the Golf Course staff (Pro or Course Superintendent) I mount up and join the guys on the first tee. I'm careful not to do any damage to the course and usually stick to the cart paths where present. I wheel up to my golf ball, step my right foot off and allow the wheel to land gently on its right side using my left foot for control while lowering it to the ground. After playing my shot I reverse my actions. I stand next to the wheel (r side) and place my left foot on the upright left pedal and tip it up, push off and away I go. My 16S works quite well as-it-is quiet and balances quickly. It also has a slightly loose right pedal that drops down partially when stood upright allowing me put my foot on the right pedal and ride away quickly).

After pouring over your review and videos I had concluded that Mten3 could be a viable light weight replacement that would be gentler to the course with its 3" inch wheel and therefor asked Jason to reserve one for me. However after recently receiving my last purchase, the I5, I now realize not all wheels are silent when laid on their side, and like the I5 may need to be restarted before continuing.  Now you know my story and the reason for questions.

If you could give me your impression (maybe a video) if the 3 would fill the role I would appreciate it very much.

Sorry about the length, I usually go for simple and concise.

As I believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, a tubeless tire without an additional tube  might be difficult or impossible to pump manually without a compressor. Otherwise, I am all for going tubeless...

Thanks for the clarification.

I don't think you will like the Mten3 for this particular use case. Gotway is probably the worst mainstream EUC manufacturer when it comes to disabling the wheel rotation during a fall. KingSong may be the King in this department 

As this video (which I just made for you) demonstrates, sometimes the wheel will spin up as the wheel is laid on its side.

I would turn it off first when laying it down and then turn it on when ready to ride. The on/off cycle is very fast and certainly less noisy than the multiple beeps as demonstrated here.

Just remembered, this is another con of tubeless tires.  Unless the bead is still sealed to the rim, a manual pump won't work because the air escapes through any gap between tire and rim.  You need a source of compressed air so the quick blast of air forces the tire to expand quickly and seal the bead.  A tire shop could do it for you,  just a quick puff of air to seat the bead,  checking of course that they can regulate the air pressure down below about 50 psi, so as not to explode the small tire.

Totally agree. 
Most places that deal with Tubeless tires have to use either soapy water or some sort of a fluid to get the bead to seal properly.  I definitely think that a tubeless tire on an EUC is a very bad idea.

Since I don't know a real answer, and all wheels seem to be doing that, I suspect it's some feature of the standard hardware the manufacturers all use, so they just went along with it.

Wow, I've let someone over 4,000 miles away and a very respected member of the EUC community affect me.

Please allow me to give my point of view. As I use my wheels for golfing and cleaning up. I mount and dismount very often. My first wheel (V3pro) allowed me to do this without alerting people around me. My second wheel (KS-16s) also was silent and quicker to re-balance. My third wheel (IPS I5) does not. It alarms and has to be restarted. I have been wondering since I got it why this alarm is needed.

I have been following many threads since March and have learned everything I know about EUC's from the knowledgeable people of this Forum. I have not commented prior as I believe I had nothing to offer. An old saying comes to mind "its better to be thought a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt". Given that, I risked asking what I thought was a carefully thought out question about the Mten3. To my delight it was answered quickly from a Top member on the forum and helped me make my decision. Now it appears after 3 questions I have offended another Top member by asking an apparent asinine question (therefore his comment).

I'll probably delete this, but maybe a little knowledge of me may change your opinion. I am a 62 y/o retired Firefighter/Paramedic. I enjoy cleaning up parks, trails, sidewalks, and streets on my wheels. I use a nifty naber and a small garbage bag. Usually I fly by and grab trash quickly without stopping, however sometimes I have to dismount. I have exposed many people to the joys of wheeling and was asked to ride in one of the local parades, that was a very enjoyable day.

Could be I'm over reacting to a harmless shot. Could be I was to concise. Could be it was meant for someone else. Could be a German greeting to newbies. 

I was thinking someone with knowledge would explain the logic behind the alarm. Maybe a manufacture would answer. Maybe a manufacture would ask themselves is it necessary and remove it from sounding when the wheel is on its side (wishful thinking).

@Psices  I got the impression it was not a dig at you,  just a joke about the beeping.  

That's pretty slick the way you can pick the wheels up with one foot and take off again so quickly, never having to reach down and pick it up with the hand.

I think you can cut the wire to the beeper if you take the shell apart.

Your use case is both interesting and unique and your video highlights how the i5 really doesn't meet your needs. Let me be the first to thank you for trying to keep the world a nicer place to be in through your efforts to clean up.

I think what has happened here is a typical problem with text only communication on message boards. With the absence of body language or vocal tone a well meaning joke or comment can be considered to be quite the opposite.

I'm guessing you are referring to @meepmeepmayer response to you and the "Hey asshole stop doing this" text. I'm not sure if you just dislike swear words, or if you thought Meep was calling you an asshole for persisting in your question about wheels on their side or if you took offense to the fact that he was suggesting the wheel thought you were an asshole, whatever your interpretation I'm 99.9% certain Meep was joking with you by suggesting that the wheel is angry at you for putting it on its side (usually a result of a fall) with it's annoying (angry sounding) beeping. He simply translated the beeps to english.

Hopefully he will be along shortly to clear it up but in the meantime take 5 minutes and consider all possible meanings of the text presented and hopefully you will see that the most unlikely interpretation of it is an offensive one.

Yes, that was the idea. Hence the [German] quotation marks ("...") for a 'quote' from the wheel - which would also have been more comprehensible if you had known my Gotway wheel always tries to kill my shin while it's at it, or respectively, I instinctively try to stop it from spinning too crazy with my foot and then the shin has to pay the price, doesn't feel like the wheel is too friendly with you then). Really sorry if I put it so you thought I'd insult you! In hindsight, I can see why it can be interpreted differently.

The point of this "wheel quote" was to point out that (as you correctly said) there really isn't a good, sound reason for the beeping when a wheel falls on the side. Maybe driver education (aka the wheel is complaining and potentially embarassing you, so you learn, which I meant to convey), and sometimes it might help to warn people of a wheel tumbling towards them or a sudden unexpected traffic obstacle (like when you fall on a crosswalk and don't want followers to run you over or stumble over the wheel). But it's certainly not a must have feature (or people might prefer no beeps, like you). Didn't know that the Kingsong wheels don't beep, I thought at least they and the Gotways do.

Sorry again if I put it in a way that after all lead you to such a long, very not-amused reply. Definitely was not the intention to have you feel insulted in any way! Or put you off this forum (please don't leave/post less than otherwise). Or anything!

edit: Not sure if the i5 needs to be restarted, or just takes some time upright until it starts balancing again. You can try. My ACM does this, beeps, no longer balances, until you move it back and forth for a moment, then it works again. No switching off-and-on-again needed. But probably the wait time is a problem in itself, too.
