Roll_On
For the first few months I have placed protective foam pad with adhesive over the V8 outer plastic shell to prevent unwanted scratches. Now, I am very good in controlling the V8 (forward, backward, quick turns, slow spiral turns, one foot off, etc.), and no damage to the V8 while training. Recently, I have started to remove the foam pads, but the adhesive stain stayed on the plastic shell. I tried many things (alcohol, nail polish, grease remover, household products, etc.), and none of them worked well. Those that seems to loosen the adhesive a bit tend to smear it covering the plastic shell shine. Finally, by chance, I tried WD-40, and it worked, and the adhesive stain came out out easily. During the trial attempts I only use cotton cloth, and I avoid rubbing it hard to prevent new scratches.
mrelwood
Label Off is a product that is created for just this. It works very well, and hasn't harmed any surfaces I've used it on over the years, including instrument woods. WD-40 on the other hand could ruin the woods and some other delicate surfaces. I use Label Off a lot. IIRC, lemon oil would work pretty well also.
WARPed1701D
Goo-Gone works and does not harm the plastic. I had some residue left over on my V8 from the protective sticky plastic they put over the handle at the factory. Goo-Gone (some orange oil concoction) got it off without clouding the plastic. It leaves a slight oily sheen to the finish but that is then easy to remove with a little mild soapy water.
meepmeepmayer
Lighter petroleum worked for me in removing the residue of the two-sided tape that comes with the standard baby foam. From my ACM side panels (both colors). Just keep it away from the (Gotway) foam side pads (and seats), it dissolves it or reacts in some way. LanghamP
I use a wet microfiber which pulls off residue much better than cotton. However, if there's any dust or dirt it will scratch up your wheel in no time at all.
