You can cut them to whatever length you need plus you can get the waterproof, 3M sticky back versions. I've got some 5050 LED version strips that I use for undercounter lighting. Here's one example: http://m.ebay.com/itm/5M-RGB-5050-Waterproof-300-LED-Strip-light-SMD-44-Key-Remote-12V-Power-Full-Kit-/272590450017 The 5050's are super bright so you might want to opt for a lower end LED.
