itsme_michael
Hi Guys,Sorry if this is a total n00b question. After months of research, I'm just about ready to get my first eu - have been waiting for the new King Song 800w to come out, as that's what I'm hoping to get.I saw on the facebook group a discussion about when the beeping kicks in on the new KS, and I found it to be at a surprisingly low speed compared to the top speed of the wheel. I'm all about safety, which is one of the reasons why I'm planning to invest in a quality wheel - but I guess I'm not sure why, if the wheel has pedal tiltback, why the beeping is necessary at all, since the wheel will slow you down on its own, right? I also find the notion of a wheel that can go up to 40-ishkm/hr starting to beep at 20-ishkm/hr somewhat off-putting. I assume that a speed between, say, 25-30km is still usable and well within the capability of the wheel to handle - so why the beeping?I guess what I don't want to have happen is to be driving at a comfortable, safe but assertive speed and to have my journey accompanied by excessive, annoying beeping. Other than cutting the wires (which I'm reluctant to do, both because I don't want to void a warranty and because I DO see the value of beeping at the high thresholds), is there anything that can be done about this? Can the beeping threshold be customized through the sofware? How loud are the beeps? Do they annoy you? Thanks and again sorry for another "dumb beginner" question. fbcregan
Totally understand this question. I'm a relative noob and have only had my Airwheel X8 for about a month, but it was only a week or so before I cut the wire to the speaker in mine. And it has made the experience a million times better. Like you said, the tiltback kicks in when you go too fast but the beeping starts at way too low of speed. While I'm sure most would tell you not to do that, and the warranty is a concern for me too, I couldn't handle the noise any longer. I hope your King Song has some option for adjusting it. itsme_michael
I hope your King Song has some option for adjusting it.I hope so too. I can understand on the lower quality wheels why the beeping kicks in so low - because the margins are pretty razor thin as far as available power and speed. But on something with an 800w motor and, say, 640 battery, it seems really silly to have the beeping kick in at literally half the potential speed. It sucks if the only options are to put up with the beeping in its entirety or to completely shut it off the old fashioned way with a pair of wire clippers. And I think it has to be logarithmic scale. But still, probably voids the warranty.

Well, in case anyone else finds this topic and is looking for controlling the volume of the beeps, here's the topic with the potentiometer -solution (requires soldering):http://forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/97-gw14-loudspeaker-poti/
