Video review: Gotway ACM s+ 1300wh

Nice you made a video!

Are you sure about the alarms? It should be 1 beep (30 km/h), 2 beeps (35 km/h) and continuous beeps (80% battery usage), but you say it depends on wind etc. Did they update the firmware? When was your wheel produced? What alarms do you have? Are you a very heavy rider?

And yep, the ACM is not fun to carry. Sometimes I do the leg thing too.

Enjoyed the video, congrads on the new wheel!

Good thing you held back, as of March Gotway updated the firmware - Acm feels more responsive.

Yes I observed that it beeps much earlier when facing heaving wind. Once I was having the app open on my smartphone ant it was showing 25-26kph, already beeping. They possibly changed their algorithm recently.

@andrewnyer Hi Andrew, the harness line is a windsurf harness line. Length of 24 inches. I bought it in a windsurfing store. Attaching it to the handle is a bit tricky. On one end, I could just pass it around the handle. On the other end I used a mini carabiner. On the picture you can see two carabiners, because I sometimes used an extra one to attach my helmet to the device.

Currently I used this solution as well as the trolley handle. Trolley handle is very good to go around in shops, mall etc. But harness line is best if you have to quickly jump off and on, typically for passing some high curb edges. So I'll probably keep using both the harness and the handle.

I really like that idea.  But I didn't see how that kind of loose and maybe(?) floppy handle affected your riding.  Did it press against your leg in a weird way, or what?

Could you do a video showing what it is like riding with that handle?  I like the idea of being able to catch your ride before it goes crashing around and injuring people or banging the heck out of itself, either way ...

... but I have no idea how difficult or weird it might be to ride with something like that pressing into your crotch or thigh or wherever ...

Just took delivery of my own ACM 1300WH and have two days riding so far. As a newbie (never ridden a EUC) I started s-l-o-w-l-y and never busted 10mph. I also COVERED the ACM in duct tape to handle the inevitable crashes.   Now after 50 miles I am very comfortable on the wheel and starting to make longer trips. Its really great and the power of the ACM seems a safety bonus to me. The wheel always has the oomph to keep you upright, even up and down inclines which were probably 20%.

I am based in Sausalito (California Bay area) so happy to meet up with other EUC riders to compare notes. There are a lot of trails in the Marin area which seem ideal for a powerful EUC. The ACM seems perfect and I am very happy with it so far. Scared of 84V? Not me. Just take it easy and life is good.

Yep! So many people don't understand that a strong motor (so a fast wheel) is safer than a slower wheel.

Easily. It would still continuously beep at you at 80% power, so you know you're reaching the limits.

The ACM hasnt beeped once yet.  The only thing I notice is that it does tilt back probably at a little less than 20mph. But no beeping. I did go up a very steep dirt trail and the ACM basically got so slow that I had to hop off. However it didnt beep and it was still trying to do this hill, just ran out of speed.  I logged on to the ACM using the app and I havent touched any settings yet,. I see it is in 'soft' mode still and alarms are set to 'default'. However there is no tilt back speed selected at all, which makes me wonder why it does tilt back like it does.

When I get a bit more experience I will try the other modes.

On some of the "modern" Gotway apps...you can see what is set!

means even when you set the tiltback yourself you can not see in the app what you have done :-)

Also: The app on android sometimes forgets the settings and jumpes back to soft ride mode, even when set on hard.

I am no GW app specialist.. @Marty Backe should be able to tell you which app to use best...

Wasn't that the iOS app?:P

facebook.com/groups/gotway/files - here you can download the latest version (what is called ...213.apk is version 2.12, because Gotway) or you get either the new or old app (no online requirement, does the job too, arguably better) from the download section on this forum.

Use the official Gotway app only to set ride modes and alarms/tiltback. Once you've done that, never use it again, third party alternatives are far better for day-to-day riding. Wheellog (Android) or Darknessbot and Gyrometrics (iOS).

If you're on Android, download the app that I installed in the Downloads section of this forum. Works great and is very reliable on all of the modern Gotway wheels.
