GW app needs to be connected to a network(phone/wireless)?

so, i'm using an asus zenpad to connect to my msuper, and it's not connected to any phone service. i've noticed that when i'm not on a wireless network, even though bluetooth is on, the app doesn't interact with the wheel. is this just the way it is? or does anyone know if this occurs with the earlier gotway app? if so, i'm gonna have to upgrade from my 'dumbphone' :efee78d764:

I highly recommend that you use the old (non social) Gotway app. Search this forum for "Dropbox" and you'll find a download link (from me) for the app that I use on all of my wheels. Works perfectly and does not require the Internet.

ok, so i gotta give an update here because i don't want the wrong info going around. i disconnected my tablet from the wireless at work, turned off bluetooth, restarted, and presto, the most recent gw app and the wheel connected! i don't know.. could be my zenpad, could be something on the control board as a result of my wheel's earlier brutal somersaulting. thanks again, though, for pointing me to the earlier app, @Marty Backe. i actually tried downloading it a few ways and succeeded, but then there was a 'parsing' error when i tried to open it. i've allowed apps not obtained from the play store to be installed, so i don't know what the deal is! maybe an android os version issue?

Just be aware that with the new Gotway app it doesn't fully function unless you have an Internet connection, and apparently some settings that you make are reset every time you reconnect to the wheel.

You should also checkout the Wheellog Android app, if you haven't already.
