At 55 years old, what I consider to be 'tricks' and what *you* consider to be tricks may differ!  Here I was trying out some new maneuvers that I had never tried out before.  I am happy with the results I have achieved so far.  Your milage may vary.

Hey Jag_Rip.  I must say my belly is still there, but it is considerably smaller than when I started trying to ride this thing 4 months ago.  My belt doesn't lie.

Wow, @dpong amazing! Very cool to hear that there are some health benefits.

Hi @KaleOsaurusRex .  I admit I started from a very low level of fitness.  I do not know your age, but I can tell you from experience that as one reaches, eh, 50-ish that balance becomes an issue. My balance wasn't terrible, [eh, maybe it was] but definitely degraded.  The wheel helps improve balance in 2 ways:  1) you balance or you die!  Only kidding.  I think part of balance is in the muscles that you use to balance (mine were bad) and the other part is in your mind/brain in realizing when you are unbalanced and need to balance.  I think the wheel works both parts, so it is a real plus.

By the way, I figured out what your member name is all about, based on our conversations.  I was on a raw food diet for about a year and a half several years ago.  I felt awesome.  Very difficult to keep it up, due to prep and constant fresh vegetable shopping, etc. as I imagine you understand.  It was great, though. Green smoothies, etc.  :)

Really Cool !! I hope I'll be patient enough to reach your level !!! I'm 49 and will go to buy me Ninebot E+ next week !!

It won't take too long for you to be at 'my' level.  Practice is all that matters.

I do have a huge shopping center parking at less than 300 meters from home YiiiiPiiii

Exactly the learning pattern I hope to reach !!!

:)

YES! Great news that is! I am looking forward to balance my thing away :D I got a sitting job and am a couchpotato at heart so there is some potential for sure.
Anyway keep it up, with some more miles you'll ride it like a bike, relaxed and looking fit! B)

@bleu9mm : This was my first time outside riding during my first week of practicing indoors hugging the back of the sofa.  I was just terrible.  Patience is required, at least for me a great deal was.  [Be sure not to miss the EPIC fail that begins at about the 1 minute mark.  Ouch!]

@dpong Thanks for sharing this with us, nice to see you made progress and i think u're right, your belly has flattened a bit between the 2 videos :)

What was that first wheel you used?  Is the difference with the ninebot THAT big? On the videos it seems the ninebot made more of a humming noice than the first but might be the recording.

@Bwuce Wee - The first wheel, the one I started with is an Airwheel X8.  And yes, I think very highly of the Ninebot One E+ as compared to the Airwheel X8.  I bought the Ninebot in order to obtain a larger margin of safety.  I like to ride about 10 miles on a charge.  At 10 miles, the Airwheel X8 is completely depleted of battery charge leaving nothing left in reserve.  The battery capacity of the NB is 320Wh vs 170Wh for the Airwheel.  Also the NB is rated to go about 13 mph.  While I may never wish to go that fast, I like that the capability is there - that I can ride at a slower safe speed under the stated capacity.  With the Airwheel X8 once I was around 8mph (I think) it would start to dip the pedals backwards and then there was that beeping... THE INCESSANT BEEPING!!  Very annoying.  Just when you were getting to a speed that felt good: the darned beeping.   With NB I regulate my own speed beep free.

As to the humming sound of the NB, I agree I was a little surprised.  The Airwheel was almost completely silent.  But I realize that while the humming makes it seem the engine of NB is not so good, nothing could be further from the truth.  It just has a little more sound.  I turn this to an advantage in that sometimes people can hear me coming and know to share the path.  Also, I can listen to the pitch of the hum and it helps me understand how fast I am going.  I am an amateur musician, so my ear focuses on the pitch.  When I'm going fast I can hear that pitch.  So while I was used to a quieter engine, the NB really isn't very loud, though audible, but it just isn't a big deal.

Anyway, these were my thoughts in making the transition.  And I think the NB is vastly superior.

Firewheel also makes the humming sound that becomes loud enough to hear when going fast (I think I hear it through my bones, as even when I cannot hear the audio-warnings, I can "hear" the motor sound... maybe it's just vibrations). And I use it to "know" and control my speed too. While I know there's enough reserve to go past 30km/h (18.5mph) without fear of the engine shutting down or similar, I rarely ride that fast, usually I cruise happily around 25km/h (15.5mph) on straights, more on long empty straights, less when there's people around or crossings, meaning joining bike lanes. Usually I don't go over car lanes at all, as long as I can avoid it, and for most part of the town, you rarely need to pass car lanes more than one or two times, if any, unless you go downtown. While I have said numerous times that Firewheel is dangerous because the audio-warnings are very hard to hear with wind or other noise and there's no tilt-back on speed (only when the battery is low), I've come to actually like it, and wouldn't want a wheel with tilt-back anymore. Knowing how it "hums" in different speeds is enough of a warning for me. I might even install a speaker kill-switch when I open it next time to put in the custom battery packs.

Anyway, these were my thoughts in making the transition.  And I think the NB is vastly superior.

Haven't ridden either, but so far I think everyone who has had both an Airwheel and a Ninebot always says Ninebot is way better, guess it's true then.
