Hunka Hunka Burning Love
Nice work! I thought though that 1.4.0 was pretty stable? Are people prefering an older version? I'm still on 1.2.5 which seems to be fine.
Popular Post Vik's
I'll just try to translate the russian guide so that Ninebot owners on this board could make use of the information, Thanks to @MRN76 for nice work and for taking his time to connect all the dots together! If there is something that doesn't work on your machine feel free to ask here, we'll try to help. Remember that 9BDgrader folder have to be unpacked to your system disk (i.e. C:\9BDgrader and not C:\9BDgrader\9BDgrader) otherwise you'll not be able to start webserver/dns etc. You can do both upgrades and downgrades as many times you want as long as everything is up and running and your phone does have version 3.5.1 of Ninebot app installed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instructions for firmware downgrade. Following firmware versions are included (no need to search for them on the interwebs): Ninebot One C/C+/E/E+/P - V1.4.3; 1.4.1; V1.4.0; V1.3.5; V1.3.0; V1.2.7; V1.2.2; V1.2.0. Ninebot Mini/Pro - V1.4.0; 1.3.1; 1.2.8; 1.2.7; 1.2.2; 1.1.7 You’ll need a computer with a Windows OS and android phone (any volunteers to create a manual for ios?) The most important thing is that the application version should not be higher than 3.5.1 (apk is included and can be sideloaded to your phone) and that everything is connected to the same wi-fi/network. Download the package HERE. (latest package includes both Ninebot C/E/P and Ninebot mini/Pro firmwares!) This manual is based on the instructions for firmware downgrade on Ninebot mini. I’ve got everything gathered in one place. Unzip the archive into the root folder of C: drive (your system drive) Run command promt (press Win+R and type cmd followed by Enter). Type «ipconfig» in command promt and press Enter. Write down your ipv4 address. In my example it is 192.168.43.152. Take a note of default gateway address too as you’ll need it for mobile device configuration. Next, right-click and edit C:\9BDgrader\Posadis 0.60.6\Config\ninebot.cn.prm in Notepad (you can also open Notepad first and open/browse to ninebot.cn.prm) and change those three adresses (apptest, ns1, www) with one you’ve already written down in previous step (IPv4 address of your computer). Save and close the document. Now, run C:\9BDgrader\Assemble.bat and choose which firmware version you would like to install by typing the corresponding digit (0-7) or letter (a-f) followed by Enter. I’ve downloaded the firmware packages from Ninebot own servers and made automatic scripts to make this as easy for you as possible. In following example, we will execute a downgrade from version 1.4.1 to v1.2.7 on a Ninebot One: Wait till the script have assembled chosen firmware and press any key to continue. Next, start the HTTP server from C:\9BDgrader\startwebserver.bat (press “Run” in security warning if you get one) Next, we have to allow the application access to the network through Windows Firewall, press “Allow access”: We can see that we have successfully launched our http-server: Next, we need to start the DNS server from C:\9BDgrader\Posadis 0.60.6\ startposadis.bat (press “Run” in security warning as you did with HTTP server) and allow access through your firewall: DNS server successfully launched: Now it’s time to configure your phone. We’ll need an application version 3.5.1. I’ve included the apk-file in the package. If you already have Ninebot app on your phone – uninstall it first and then proceed to install the Ninebot_3.5.1_en.apk Run the app, enter your user/password and connect to the wheel. After that we leave the application running, and start to configure the phone to communicate with our own servers. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, long-press your home network and choose “Modify network”: Enter your wifi password and check the box for “advanced options”. Choose “static” under IP settings and type any unused IP-address in your networks ip-range. In my example I’ve changed the last digits from 155 to 120. Type the gateway address you took note of earlier: Do not forget to fill the DNS fields with you computer IP-adress (as it will be your upgrade/downgrade server!) Press «Save».Open a new browser window on your smartphone and try to visit www.ninebot.cn website. - If you get the official Ninebot website up – then you did something wrong in DNS server settings. (Disable LTE/mobile data!) - If you get an error like «page not found», then it could be ports 80 or 53 that are blocked either by firewall or your antivirus program. Deactivate them and try again. - If you see the following message – «You are ready to firmware ninebot one! By MRN76» then you are all set and ready to go. Turn on your ninebot one and connect to it from the app. You’ll get a notification about new firmware version 9.9.9. (In reality it’s the version you picked earlier. 9.9.9 is there just to avoid any conflicts with ninebot own versions): After confirming it by «Sure» the unit will lock itself and start to «upgrade» (or downgrade) fhe firmware. Now all you have to do is wait. If the process stops, just press «Retry». The firmware will be first copied to an own memory chip before the data is actually written to the main memory (kudos to Ninebot on that one!) After completing the firmware upgrade the wheel will restart and the app will ask you to «Reconnect» And you’ll get a «new firmware available» notification right afterwards (press "cancel"). It is by design so any firmware you choose will always be of a lower version than 9.9.9 (ninebot app will only trigger the firmware upgrade if there are a newer versions available) Choose «basic information» in the app and control the version of your ninebot’s firmware: Voila! Now you can shut down the http-server and DNS-server, reset your phones Wifi settings (just «forget» your network and connect again as usual) and start your antivirus and firewall if needed. Disclaimer. This information is provided as-is, please understand each step you are taking first. The downgrade is at your own risk and please execute the steps only if you understand what you are doing. Here you can find a description of all the firmware versions (english and chinese). But there seems to be many that are not happy with either behaviour of the EUC on some fw versions or i.e. 8kHz sound introduced in 1.4.0 (or was it 1.3.5?)... So it is great to have freedom to choose any firmware you want. Edited March 20, 2017 by Vik's

The firmware packages included are for Ninnebot One. Besides, on Ninebot mini you can only downgrade from version that are not higher than 1.2.8?

Check it out with starting command promt (elevated, run as administrator!) and type netstat -anb followed by Enter. You'll see a long list of all used port on your machine, - look for port 80 and you will see tha name of the application using it.

All of the fw versions comes from Ninebot own servers. 1.4.1 is made available to download (here) since ca. june of 2016, but not as an upgrade though the app for general public. We're still not aware of a method to modify and repack custom firmwares for ninebot AFAIK.

So if he would visit you at your home and connect his phone, then it would be possible. This guide doesn't aim at publishing of webserver on the internet as it would be a much more complicated task.
