V5F Vs V5F+ Batteries

Hey everyone,

Ive been browsing around for a wheel of my own for a while, and have it narrowed down to the ninebot E+, Segway S1, and Inmotion V5F(+ maybe). After some digging, I read that the only difference between the F and F+ is the model of battery used, and that they are virtually identical aside from that. That being said, has anyone tried putting the V5F+ batteries in their F model? if so, did it perform as a V5F+ should, or is there actually a difference in the CPU that makes it still think that it is not the + model?

I just sent in a quote for 50 V5F+ batteries, so I will be able to let you guys know how much the conversion should cost within 48 hours

Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions/insight!

As far as i know the V5F+ with 27kmh is faster...and that is not only because batteries, but also because different Firmware!

So the answer would be: Yes, you can throw the bigger Batterie in the V5F...but: as the Firmware is different...you will still have a V5F Speed performance....and so just a better range!

How do I know, when ordering, what firmware package my V5F+ will have? Would it be possible to update the firmware from my PC?

V5F and V5F+ have the same firmware. Inmotion say that the top speed is 27kph, but that's just absolute limit speed for a fraction of a second before the pedal tilt-back reins you in; realistic max cruising speed for both is around the 23-24kph range. The V5F+ have an identification sticker on them, but the best evidence is the actual range you'll get from a charge. Someone of about 150lbs on flat ground should be able to achieve nearly 30 miles, whereas the V5F is about 20 miles.

Jason is the Expert! :-) Again something learned.....

So is the battery switcheroo feasible? I bet it'd void the warranty you provide though.....

I just don't want to spend $200 more for $30 worth of batteries, when I could put $150 of it into that sweet accessory bundle

It's possible in theory, but it's time consuming... Batteries packs are expensive, Inmotion charge us nearly $200 more for the V5F+ variant.

I think you have some wrong Imagination/ideas about Batterie Prices.....They are the main reason for high priced EUC's.

If you can get a -high Quality- 340wh pack for 200$ you are very, very lucky....

For a 340wh upgrade of my KS14 i paid about 250$.....

You're not just paying for $30 worth of batteries, you're also paying for top customer service and a seller who actually has a technical knowledge of the wheels from tire-to-circuit board, their when you need him in one-to-one dialogue. I don't think I'd ever buy a wheel from someone who wasn't Ian or Jason......these things simply cost too much (and are too new) to be worrying about the level of customer support you're going to get once you've said goodbye to your cash.

Seriously, go for the v5f+. It's exceptional.

(ps. I promise Jason did not pay me to say that) ?

I guess this thread should have gone int the mods section. My apologies. Anyway, you guys were very right. The quote I got came in at 4.13 per cell, which comes to $206.50 for the minimum order, and $165.20 for the 40 to power the wheel. Definitely much more worth it to spend a little extra cash and get the v5f+ than buy new batteries.... Especially since ewheels has just today raised their price on the v5f. And I thought I was going to have just enough money left over to buy a didgeridoo. :o

The bundled price is the same at $749, I slightly increased the base price on the V5F by $50, because we were getting quite a few Customers ordering the Wheel, then realizing later on they needed the accessories, which made it difficult/expensive to process separately, intention is to make it more of a no-brainer to go with the pack.

Totally agree.

I can't imagine what a headache it would be ordering a wheel from someplace like aliexpress and something was wrong with the wheel. Really no technical support and the pain to ship it back to them ?  No thank you !!!

One saying I truly believe in when it comes to many things is "you get what you pay for".
