Concerning the European law which might allow EUC's limited at 25km/h in 2018 -> Even if that law is in place, countries can set stronger limitations. So even at that moment, Belgium (and maybe other countries) will still have the limitation of 18km/h.

I don't think so. EU law trumps national law.^1 One major point of having EU law is that citizens get legal predictability/certainty when moving within Europe. That means, if a device is legal by EU law, countries are not free to prosecute/penalise/convict citizens of any (EU) country for using such an EU-legal device.

Alot of good options for 18km/h max:

SOLOWHEEL XTREME - Max 16km/h

InMotion V5 (not V5F or other versions) - Max 18km/h

Ninebot One C - Max 16km/h

IPS A130 - Max ~17.7km/h

@houseofjob not a bad list actually!

If the speed limit is increased to 25 km/h you can add the V5F (& V5F+) and also the 10" Gotway Luffy.

If the universal speed limit in the EU becomes 25km/h, you can probably add about any wheel which will remain to be in the market.

@monowheels.be This 18km/h limit is quite restrictive in Belgium. IMO it should be possible to go faster, especially if you have a driver license. Possibly they would impose a license plate and insurance. I was never stopped by police for now in Brussels. If you go faster, I don't think they can seize your wheel just for that. I never heard about a law specifying fines or any other punishments for electric vehicles. Bikes often jump on the sidewalks (which is illegal) and are never fined. Tolerance is much higher for light vehicles than cars. However it's true, laws can possibly evolve. Especially in Belgium where authorities are often trying everything to stop progress at any cost.

Hi @Roue Libre it is indeed quite restrictive. But at least Belgium has an official law that allows them.

And true, chances that police will stop you, seem today to be small. But they can stop you and seize your wheel if your wheel has a higher speed limit then 18km/h.
Because if it can go faster, it needs to be officially approved (homologeren in Dutch) which is not possible today, registered and insured and the driver has to follow the rules that apply to the moped class A vehicle (helmet). In other words they are not allowed on public roads. On private property they can.

Do you know of any brands/models with good quality, but limited to 18km/h?

Whole Inmotion V3 series (V3, V3C, V3pro and V3S) are also limited by design to 18 Km/h.
