Although as @esaj pointed out in another thread, these surface mount mosfets have a much lower Rds than the TO-220 package ones that most other wheels use so they generate less heat. I've done some pretty hard riding and never had an overheating problem. The thermal pad and small heatsink does look weak compared to other wheels but it's hard to argue it needs a better one if this one works!
