Hello dutch unicyclists,

I am new to this forum, and also to riding my InMotion V5F. I am still learning to ride, especially starting my ride proves difficult (still have to use a pole, wall or something else for support). I use my wheel in my spare time, just for fun. Maybe in the future I will use it to get to work also...

I am interested in sharing experciences and also in meetings/rides. I live in Assen (Drenthe).

Cheers! Douwe

Hoi Wielende nederlander,

Hi all,

I'll move to the Netherland in the next months  (Limburg) and I wondered about the rules for using EUC in this country. Is it allowed to ride on sidewalks and bycicle tracks ? What insurance is needed or requested ? Something else ?

Thanks for information and cannot wait meeting you in the Netherland.

Hallo luitjes!

Hi all,

Sorry for insisting but I didn't get any answer about my question. This was about the use of an EUC in the Netherlands. Is it authorised ?

Thank for the help

Alain

Alain,

Did you not see the post immediately above yours from @Rudy Sijnke telling you he has sent you a private message (P.M.)

In fact, whilst the Moderators cannot read P.M.’s I can see that you have been sent two.

I saw the message and I red it but actually in this PM no answer to my question. I sent another PM also to ask him but I didn't get an answer.

Is there a problem to answer this question ?

Hi Alain,

Welcome to the Netherlands in advance.

Since you didn't get any answers, I will try to answer you: I am not sure, but for as far as I know, riding an EUC is not allowed at all in The Netherlands at all. So it is not even possible to insure it. Although, that is what I have been told.

Don't be afraid: cops will condone it.

Same with me. ?

That's really a pity, in my opinion, it's probally the best compromise we have currently.

Hopefully :). But since I'm a foreigner and I don't speak Dutch, I'm a little bit anxious. Moreover, I was last week there and I didn't see anybody riding an EUC. Are there some riders ?

Hella Alain and Masterdam,

There are ofcourse EUC riders in the netherlands, but not that many - like france of belgium.

It is true that there is no insurence for the EUC in the netherlands.

All the company's say because it's not legal, they can't sell any insurence for the EUC.

Most of the cops let you just ride when they see you on the EUC, but sometimes they do not.

Motorcops are quit worse in this case, the riders that had problems on there EUC was with motorcops.

We are in a group app, there are around 30 on it, but that doen't say that there are not more riders in holland.

In my area in 2 years i just see 2 other riders, but we do group rides every now and then.

Forbringing you're EUC with you, i should say just do.

But try to avoid the most busy places, and be aware of all the other traffic.

Don't no which part you start living, but maybe it's different there - who nows..
