steve454 Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Remember when Youtube was ad free? And then they started making you watch a 10-15 second ad, but you could alway skip the ad in 4 seconds? And lately some of them you can't skip at all, you have to sit through sometimes a 30 second commercial. And now those pop-ups at the bottom of the screen that you scramble to hit the little x before they block important parts of the video you're watching. Is there any way to avoid the ads? It's an interesting evolution of TV where you have a choice (sometimes) to skip over ads. For individual people producing content, I think it's not the end of the world to watch or click skip as needed. Annoying? You bet! But I have seen some funny commercials which were worth watching. Like this one for instance: There are some extensions like Adblock for Chrome and Adblocker for Firefox that seem to work. Yeah, that's a good one, I sometimes hear people mention that product on the radio now after being given free samples. You're right, it's a pretty minor thing, and if I like the video or person who made it, I feel a little obligated to let them make money from it. Not sure where she found that foreign accent though.
