I will post some Pictures when i get my KS18 back, because it`s back to the distributor at the moment because my mainboard got damaged from the heat :( hope i will get it back till the end of the month ...

Till then everything will be ready to build in.

The Board is a simple Step up Converter 5V --> 12V but the fan can be adjusted with this unit  to every RPM in this range

My weight ist about 100Kg @1,95m height.

i noticed that when i was doing some fast foward and backward moves that the board heats up very fast and then gets into the back tilting mode at 60° to prevent damage (so i thought) but when the distributor looked at my mainboard he said that it WAS damaged and will be replaced by Kingsong including the motor with a newer version. So i didn`t do anything what this wheel wasn`t meant to do. Maybe the board was  probably faulty from the beginning of the purchase.

But you got also heatproblems from time to time so i think with my weight i will get into this again - but now i`m prepared ;)

You mean idling? Moving on one place? Yip...that heats up the board very quickly....Even with that weight (i have also 100)...The KS18 is in no way an idling wheel..to much power on the Motor!

Did 1radwerkstatt say what was defect?

Interesting is that you are also getting a new Motor!

It`s beeping ant tilting back and forth when standing due the too high temperature.

The power is great but i hope it will get better with the new hardware refering to the termperature of the system and the new air flow system

Jep i bought it from this guys

HI @ all and greetings from a rookie in this forum from germany!

i got some major overheating problems with my KS-18 1508WH so i decided to add a cooling system to my wheel.

I`m creating a simmilar  system for my KS-18 like you guys using  a 3D Printer and moddeling software

I´m also going to use the 5V USB Port and one 80mm Cooling Fan. The Cable can be removed if not necessary.

The fan blows into the body of the wheel and on the other side i will make a passive "Hot Air Out"  hole covered with a mesh

Hope you like it :)

It's something wrong with the board , I agree , I have no heating problem when standing still I even use power on to keep it upright against the wall sometimes , maybe you go in the mountains ?  it's where I had some heat only

I was in the mountains once but only to try my new bigger pedals for my KS-18, which are really great :) but there i had no overheating problems on normal or gently rising paths. I`m sure that i would have one when going up higher paths.

Update: I just recieved my 80mm Fan and mounted it in my cage. Fits perfectly and tooks under 0,35 Amps in Operation. At the moment i`m at full 12V for the Fan

Now i`m waiting for the Cover mesh to protect the Fan blades and of course my Kingsong .. :(

and a 3D printed lid to put ontop when it's raining  :D , how much would you take to make an 3D printed lid 84,5 x 84.5 (inner dimension) x 9 mm , black ?

The Lid for my system is already designed :) a lid with this dimensions you asked for is done in minutes in the software

I think everything has to be waterproof or any installation will end up in the old good faceplant memories

The whole fan system will be sealed  around on the bottom

on the top i`m going to add a fan mesh for safety and to avoid dirt getting in - should arrive next week.

Do you only need the 3D model or a complete 3d Print?

I`m normaly  using PayPal for such transactions , but haven`t heart about swish :(

You want a lid that totaly covers the fan from the rain with no air gaps?

it is for  90mm fan right ?

Yes I can make a paypal account ,  the fan is 80x80 mm but with cover filter on then it´s 84,5 x 84,5 and 10 mm high , if it's alot of work for you then I make one myself but I see with your 3D printer it could be just perfect , It doesn't have to be exactly tight , I can adjust with silicone on the innerside , yes it is to cover the fan from rain , a complete 3D print  :)

It's ok I made one with silicone , covered the fan , fits like a glove , thank you anyway , I like 3D printers you can do so many things with them

As said, this would be no big deal to create and print . can be done in 1 day. Just let me know if you want one

Finished installing converter , gps tracker , switch , fuse , fan , led temp meter , sealed everything with black silicone enough for a porno movie , now it's just some cleanup to do ,
deleting excessive silicone , everything is soldered for avoiding bad connections , calculated with only gps tracker the battery should last 2,2 month , I don't care about that , maintenance charging is required anyway

Update:

Bad converter , don't buy for euc , breaks for no reason

Instead I use 5 to 12v converter 5v from usb plug to Power the fan , this works excellent , it means I cancelled my gps tracker until I find a better converter ,
the most important is that the fun fan is working now

5 to 12v converter , excellent

My pussycat KS 18

Sealed everything from the inside with silicone , also covered the circuit and switch with silicone , no water leaks here , not a chance , the converter is glued with silicone
inside the lid

Jaja , it was a short pleasure , the fan is working now but not touch Control and I can't turn off the light , this small fan seems to have overloaded the usb port , I will search for what's wrong right away , this is bad , maybe I have to use a separate battery pack for fan

Disconnected the Power to the motherboard and connected again , now it's working , maybe I have to turn on the euc Before I switch on the fan , good that I have a switch then , a Little bit nervwrecking , I don't wan't to risk any failure when driving

Confirmed after testing , I have to turn on the euc first and then the fan , it's working just fine now

How much current have you been pulling out of this converter at 12V? They are not really designed for giving more than 500 mA in long run so if you had you GPS connected to it as well it might have been a bit too much. How much is the fan itself taking?
