ruben.kanstad@gmail.com
I want a unit that has good top speed and that is comfortable for 5km trips. I also want one that I can adjust tilt.
US69
Puuuh...That is not so much info ;-) Price Range no Problem? What Wheel Size? My Choices would be: Get a KS16 (30kmh), KS18(40kmh) or Gotway ACM(40kmh) or MSuperV2(29-40kmh depends on Motor type).. They are all fast and the KS16, 18 and ACM can adjust tilt.....The KS's are known to be very save....

Is there a starter/budget model that is comfortable for 5km+ travel and that has decent top speed? Is this worth 290 us dollars? https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=no&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.teknikmagasinet.no%2Fprodukter%2Fleker-o-gadgets%2Fkule-gadgets%2Forb-wheel-x2&edit-text=&act=url Should I go for this cheap one to learn how to ride first? US69
The KS for 1170 UD Dollar...is it 340wh or 680wh Batterie? I Would NOT go for such a cheap product..like in your link. NEVER!!!! They are NOT save!!!! and yes...it Forces you back (called tiltback) at low Speed of 12 or 15kmh!!! No fun to ride on it and not save....belive me Learning is a time of 15 Minutes to 5 hours until you can drive without that the unicycle falls down... Until that time you put some "secure tape" around it...or some Neopren...or something else to not scatch it... And i also would recommend to buy bigger Batterie....340wh on kS16 is enough for 5km trips....but believe me: Once you learn it...you will go for longer trip! So better buy 680wh Version....it gives longer trips AND the bigger the Batterie, the more secure the wheel is! It then has more power for fast driving and hills and bumps! Try reading more here on the Forum and learn more about EUC's........

All the inexpensive starter models I know of are not well made, have very short battery life, and slow top speed. Many of us did the same thing you are thinking about and got a cheap unit to learn on, then upgraded. The problem is that once you learn to ride you will not be satisfied with the starter model at all. So it will cost you more to do it that way, with the benefit that you will learn without scratching up an expensive unit. Also, if you decide that an EUC is not fun for you (HOW COULD YOU THINK THAT??!!) you will have spent less money in total. There are several Norway riders here on the forum, maybe you can meet with one of them and they will let you try their EUC? Here is a thread in the local meetup section and you might also search for Norway to see who else is there.

The lean back = tiltback is adjustable and the max set is to 30kmh...... When 340wh is said to do 40km lenght it is a lie...or better taht is just for someone who has a weight of 40 kilo... With 80 kg you can get 20-25km wide/lenght...if you are more heavy then it is less........ And like i said: Bigger Batterie=more safety!!!! You can configure the speed warnings (beeps and tilt backs) using the mobile phone app per your needs. That Orbit from Teknik Magasinet is really really cheap (in way it's made) slow and low range model. You can though try to get some second hand from your local "second hand" website (maybe finn.no?). The range greatly depends on the users weight so without sharing yours with us it's hard to give you exact estimate. Another factor is wind which will decrease the range by up to 20%. US69
To explain it (very) easy: WIth a 340wh all the power Comes from one Batterie pack on one side... With a 520wh the power Comes from 2 packs...each side has one...so the amount of amperage/load is split.....so its more safe to ride fast and on hills....that is very important even if you are a more heavy guy

And i can set the Price on the Website to Euros.....it is a good Price for europe! in Germany or France you have to pay about 150-200 Euro more for it.... And the wheel is fantastic, by the way :-)

So the 520Wh is already 4 packs (2 * 16S2P), 132Wh each (2200mAh cells), 132Wh * 4 = 528Wh.
Scully
My definition with the cheap ones... Would you learn to drive in a 1985 Ford? What if you were learning you didn't like the noise, comfort, speed... you would probably think - all cars must be like this, i'm not going to learn to drive. Get a decent EUC, it's a pleasure to ride. I ride a ninebot, it's good for about 10 miles and does about 14mph, fully loaded im about 15 stone - Hope that helps. Jurgen
Why adjustable tilt? I ride IPS wheels and the tilt never bothered me; it helps you to prevent faceplanting because you overspeed the wheel. 14" for commuting (lightweight to carry) to 18" for off-road use; or 16" as a compromise between the two. Don't go for cheap wheels and/or small battery (min 340Wh) it's already risky enough; based on the feedback on the forum here go for GW/KS/IPS/NB. If you're worried for damages when learning to ride, and want to go cheap to avoid sinking a lot of money in a hobby you might not like: try and buy a second hand wheel here on the forum. Warning: injuries are common in the beginnen, so please wear full protective gear (incl helmet) at all times. Good luck.
TremF
Initially I was looking for safety and a little distance and opted for a Ninebot One E+ After learning to ride and getting used to it I soon found that it wasn't enough. I wanted more - more miles and more speed! also less lights, because I think they look tacky, and all black rather than the white (with blue outer shells) of my NB1 I recently opted for the Gotway ACM. It's possibly the fastest EUC and has a decent range and it's black. With the ACM I have turned off the first and second beeps and changed the Tilt Back to a speed I feel comfortable with. Now I only have beeps when I go too fast as the battery gets below 30% and I rarely go so fast that the tilt back kicks in and yet even if it did i would still have plenty of power and speed in reserve. As for the lights it has a front light and 5 coloured ones on the back that (unfortunately) look like they are rolling as you move forward, turn red for brakes and show the battery level when stopped. Definitely a good option in my opinion but I know others like colourful shells and lots of flashing lights.
