@Cloud Ouch. Wish you fast recovery. As most of us are not medical doctors you should consult some of this gods in white closes to have a look on your knee.

So if any one like to talk on safety..

Id rather talk to you guys than medical doctors. They cant talk eucs :)

@Cloud Wish everything goes well, man...

I myself too lazy sometimes to wear full gears, but this reminds us of how accident comes suddenly and unexpected.

Exctly. We all forget from time to time how important safety is, and need a periodic reminder. This is the reason i posted

@Cloud how is the progress? Hope you are getting better. Get well soon!

The swelling is going down. It is definitely much better. I still dont know the results of the x ray, i will try to call the doctor on monday, and the specialist is only available in a week from now. But judging by the looks of it, it looks much better, and i am riding the wheel but trying to be careful and wearing  knee protection now!

That's good to hear that the knee is getting better!  Ride carefully.

@Rehab1 That jacket is nice, but there's not enough rhinestones.  Once you get your Flamebot, you'll be rolling with style if you get a suit like this one:

... paired up with this classic:

Now if only I could find some blue suede motorcycle boots...

@HunkaHunkaBurningLove Ok, how about this Elvis jacket? I actually prefer this flame one. New NB Flame was delivered to the FedEx branch yesterday afternoon. Worked all day then went out to eat with my wife for Father's Day. We should have drove separately ( that would have been a tip off) as the restaurant was within a stones throw of my new NB. I smiled as we drove past. This morning I will pick it up. Plan is to take a month or so before telling her. I am so, so bad!! I'll send a side by side photo then back in the box.

@Cloud it sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Curious, why so long to obtain your X-ray results? Are you icing your knee?

Thank you, yes looks like it, the swelling has decreased some more.  The xrays were done same day but they are sent to another office where my general physician is.  So i either have to make an appoint, ent with her to see if she can make any sense of the xrays or wait another week when the orthopedic doctor is available to see me. As the condition of the kneee doesnt seem critical, i am waiting. No didnt apply ice and i walk and ride the wheel and do everything as usual. I just avoid running and too fast riding on the wheel

What gear are you wearing now @Cloud?  Knee pads.... Helmet?  Elbows?  Jacket?  Every time I read about someone's injury I think I need to pick up something new.  I'm still debating about getting a pair of motocycle boots with some ankle support.  I still don't like my new skater helmet so I hope my other bike helmet looks better.  I was thinking of getting a full motorcycle helmet, but it would be so hot to wear.  I also saw some cool jet pilot helmets on AliEx but again too hot...

I normally dont wear any gear, except bike gloves, as the skin on your palms is usually the first thing to go. I do own 2 helmets( 1 bike , 1 skateboard), knee pads and elbow pads. They are cheap, nothing fancy.

after my issue with the knee i started wearing knee pads for longer rides.

Luckily, so far, i havent hit my head, but you never know. Normally its the palms on my hands and the knees that get affected the most and sometimes the outer part of the arm from the elbow to the wrist.

now, it is a well known phenomenon in safety, especially construction safety where in some instances, using the PPE ( personal protective equipment) can put you jn a higher risk zone than not using one. So if for shorter rides at slower speeds, and safe environment, using a heavy helmet or other protective gear can restrain your movement and decrease the bending range of your joints, then maybe dont wear it - its a judgement call. But at least put the gloves on - they dont restrain anything relevant to the ride and its a quick way to feel more equipped and safe.

but for longer rides in unsafe environment at high speeds - i recommend - always wrist guards or palm guard or biker gloves, knee pads, helmet and elbow pads. As long as these are good quality, it will keep you alive and in most unfortunate cases you will just have to deal with bruises and messed up skin on other parts on the body. One can go firther to wear full body protection but this may be an overkill for slow speeds and can make one feel too hot or uncomfortable

I need to get a helmet (for >20km/h). Do you find one type to be better than the other for EUC use?

Well, whenever i faceplanted, luckily, i never hit my head so far, so cant compare by prior experimenting. The skateboard helmet usually covers the back of the head a little better. By my main reason for buying the skateboard helmet, which i bought second, was the looks. To me it looked cooler than the bike helmet. Other than that, the material properties in both appear similar. Id say pick one that is more comfortable to you and considered a good brand

The swelling is mostly down, there is a bit of it left though. The xray didnt show problems with the bones, i might do an MRI just in case.   And my appointment with the orthopedic doctor got moved to july 11. So mostl likely its ok, but will know more later.

Yes i do. I rode it even before when it was really swollen. I never had strong pain in it and i cant live without it so i continued to ride) but when it was swollen i was more careful and rode slower just in case i decide to faceplant again and also so as not to put too much pressure on it riding over obstacles, potholes etc
