forum errors yesterday

Hi all,

right now I don't know more than you, but yesterday the forum had some errors. Some things didn't display properly, I couldn't post or edit, and any menu that would expand instead of loading a new page (like when you click on the notification bell on the top right) wouldn't work. I also noticed there were barely any/no(?) new posts, so I assume others had the same issues.

This happened on different browsers, on mobile and desktop. Likely this was an issue with the forum software provider.

It seems to be over now, at least I can't find anything that doesn't work right now.

If you still have problems (and if you can post) please do tell! If you had the same problems and they're over now (or not?), feel free to tell also.

If the forum still doesn't work for you at all (= you can't even post here to report something), it would help if we know! You can post on the Discord channel https://discord.gg/GJTHZ3r or maybe on the r/electricunicycle subreddit (I don't check that, but someone will).

When I click on videos I get a message “Sign in to confirm you are not a bot”…

You mean Youtube videos that are embedded? That would be a Youtube issue, they don't like your IP or something.

Or is it videos uploaded directly to this forum?

No problems here.    Do you have both phone and computer access to this forum, is the problem present at both platforms?

I dont know of those kind of errors related to "old hardware" - its mostly about speed / app performance.  The interesting part is if the problem exist for you if you use the same ipad at a different network / wifi ( i assume its a wifi connect, or do you have a simm card installed in the ipad?)

I never take this device anywhere. Kinda doubt there’s a sim in it. It’s old. Hand me down, as it were.

Very old (+ 8 years) ipads have a persistent problem with the IOS version and the youtube app. They are no longer "compatible" - the ipad insists that you update the app, the app cant update because the IOS is to old.  But again, this has nothing to do with embedded videos, you can watch these videos on any device with a browser and internet connection, and there is not need for the youtube app.  So i suspect that the network provider you are using is in a "ip range bad standing" of some kind.
