Funky Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) Have any wheel made around 2020 year and onwards have had a light sensor built in them? It's pretty awesome little thing. If it's dark - it will automatically turn on light. If it's daytime - it will automatically turn off light. I haven't noticed it on any wheel at all. Why manufacturers don't add that feature? Also some questions about wheels without light sensor. The light can be turned off in app - and every time wheel gets turned on (power cycled) - it will remember that setting and wheel will turn on without light powered on? You still can press physical light button on wheel - to turn the light on manually? When wheel gets power cycled again - the light will be off? Am i correct to think that it would work like that? (Sorry - i didn't need to think about lights.. They simply worked when i needed them. No messing with app or turning on/off..) Edited November 21 by Funky Quote
Scubadragonsan Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) Surely, a lot of other features can be added to an EUC such as radar, GPS, voice command, auto-follow the rider...to become a James Bond kind of wheel! Edited November 21 by Scubadragonsan Quote
Funky Posted November 21 Author Posted November 21 I'm talking about feature that has been in 201* year models.. And newer models removed it altogether. Yes they can add many others features. Quote

And as extra bonus (KS 16X) if a car comes in your direction (opposite lane) with high beam, then wheel light goes to off. Very smart indeed..... not. 2 Quote

Very smart indeed..... not. Lol.. You could disable it then - If you ride on streets. Also light sensor should be on upper wheel body, just for scenario like this. 18Xl has it at back side. Love how at morning, when i ride to train/job it auto turns them on. And when i ride home it turns them off. As at day you don't need them. FYI: i'm pedestrian/sidewalk rider, who likes to blind them at morning. Edited November 21 by Funky Quote
Not Sure Posted November 22 Posted November 22 The s22 has this. I also really love how it dims when you stop. Quote
Seba Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Light sensor in my 18XL was such a great and useful feature that I removed it and used it's hole to put a buzzer cutout switch. Not as automatic feature as a light sensor, but at much more useful feature Now riding with light on all the time by default (still can turn it off/on with the app), which is good for being visible to other traffic and people. 1 Quote

Each their own. To me light sensor is pretty awesome. Sure i could ride my wheel with light on all the time. Even while pushing it inside train, who cares that i would be blinding seated passengers, or when train door opens - the first thing people would see is a flash bang. Nah i will be nicer and disable the light. Only once in morning i actually need the light (Somewhat.. I never had a light, when i was commuting by bike over decade.) Pressing button once are much better option, than needing to turn off light every time i turn on wheel. Small thing, same as centered handle. Lights on EUC's in general. Easy/fast to access buttons. Lift switch built inside handle. Most of these things are afterthought, or not thought about at all.. Edited November 22 by Funky Quote

On the v14, the only thing that automatically come back on after a power cycle is the DRL portion of the headlight. The actual beam would need to be turned on (single button press) every time the wheel is powered back up. I do miss the light sensor from my 16x at times. Having the ability to continue through a tunnel or underpass without slowing or bending down to activate the light really was worth its weight in gold. It was a feature that just felt right. If cars can have it, why shouldn't our wheels? 19 hours ago, Robse said: And as extra bonus (KS 16X) if a car comes in your direction (opposite lane) with high beam, then wheel light goes to off. Very smart indeed..... not. That is the one caveat Still, I think there's some merit to having an auto-sensor. At its very worst, it requires manual activation. Which honestly is no different from what we do now with modern EUCs when going for a night ride. Edited November 22 by Lockwood 1 Quote
