EUC World weird behaviour recently...

Not sure when this started, but EUCW has stopped reading me the weather along with my regular tour reports.

I have checked in the menu under speech settings etc to make sure that they should be included, and they always have been until a few days ago. Yesterday, I stopped, turned on mobile data, updated the weather on the phone, at which point subsequent reports did include it. However, today they were gone again, and no amount of updating weather or activating a connection would make it include the weather today ! What could be going wrong @Seba ?

Also it continues to confuse me why the startup announcement will be American one time I open it and British the next even though every announcement after that is British as specified ! And today it also started beeping at me in a way I haven't heard before before the EUC was even powered on ! All very odd...

Well, there may be lot of reasons why you're not getting weather reports. First and most obvious is the lack of Internet connection. To get weather updates you need to have mobile data turned on. Second - EUC World needs to get location updates, so GPS must be operating and app needs location permissions to be granted. Third - there may be some issue with weather data provider. EUC World uses OpenWeatherMap API data which usually works OK, but it's possible that there may be occasional breaks in service.

Check what TTS engine is set in EUCW settings. If you have a Samsung phone, it's possible that Samsung TTS engine is used, which sometimes works erratically. Switching to Google TTS may help. Also verify settings of TTS engine in Android settings.

Thanks for getting back so quick !  Yep, I understand we can't get updated weather without mobile data, but it should still read me the last known weather before I left the house, where the phone did have a connection, or rather, I should say - it always has done that, with or without a connection as I ride. So I suspect one of the other reasons you mentioned. Anyway, I'll keep an ear out and see if it does it over the next few days, which might narrow down the cause if we're lucky...

Funnily enough that is already set to Google TTS. Damned if I can find the setting in Android tho  TBH, this is hardly a major problem, and I quite enjoy trying to predict who will have won the 'night-time battle' I imagine is going on between the British and American TTS girls when I next open EUCW !

OK, further information has come to light, and it would seem that our good old friend 'human error' is at fault here ! Seems I had turned Wifi off on my phone inadvertently.

Once I sorted that, all was back to normal, even when not in range of it, and my weather reports were back... sorry for false alarm there...
