eried Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Hi! I've heard some faint, bird-like chirping sounds from my V14. I saw a video by Wrong Way about the V14 where he mentioned the same noises. He wasn't sure if they were from actual Warsaw's birds or the wheel. Can I spray some silicone lub / WD40 / Vaseline? I know the bearing are sealed, but some particle or dirt or dry area is clearly producing a sound.Wheel has under 500 kms, I have climbed some trails with it, but never submerged it more than the tire / went thru sand. eried Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 Answering my question 😬 I am pretty sure is the covers of the bearings rotating and making a sound sometimes. I tried: -Dry lub spray: no change -silicone spray: worse sound -specialist wd40 ptfe: 100% fixed, I know some people will say "it will attract dust and blah blah" but just apply and clean it Quote
LuckyV14 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Silicone Oil helped my Chirping. I may try some PTFE oil or even Grease. 1 Quote

After testing more, I think the wd40 specialist white lithium was the best. The ptfe starting chirping after 3-5 hours of use, the other hasn't failed yet. I think the definitive solution would be to lightly scratch the rubber cover with some fine sandpaper to change the way it rubs the axis... But I dont want to take it appart Quote

I tried dry lube, no change but it seems very good to clean the area for lithium grease later Edited August 10 by eried 1 Quote
eried Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 Near the pedal where you can see rubber and the axis. I feel the noise was coming from that seal that is on the outer case of the motor. Directly inside you have the bearing, but I am not sure is reachable from outside, either way it is very smooth when rotating it manually. I measured the temperature after a long trip and both sides where the same, so I am 99.9% sure the noise is just materials rubbing 2 Quote
techyiam Posted August 10 Posted August 10 OK. It's not the sliders. You are saying it's the outer bearings seals? You mean just below the pedal hinge when the pedals are folded up, and a portion of the wheel bearings outer seal can be seen. I can't make out what I am looking at from the photo. How about a more zoomed out view. Quote

Its just not easy to get in there from outside. In Winter when i will not ride so much i guess i will dare to open the wheel 1 1 Quote

Then on the exposed side of the seal, I clean off the grease and apply a film of dry graphite lube. That's what I experimented with so far. Not sure how well this will work on the V14. Good to know that it is not the sliders. I was considering a V14; this is less serious. 1 1 Quote

The noise is quite low too, not annoying, really seems like is birds 😁 but yes, that seal makes some noise after a while, maybe there is some expansions after a while? I will report back how long the white lithium one last, it has been 100 kms no noise now. 1 Quote

Wd40 is a solvent and can liquefy the grease in the bearings. Also there are certain rubbers and plastics that can be dissolved by it. (seals) white lithium is ok, that and any sort of light oil alone. My 2 cents. 2 Quote

eried Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 After 2 hrs ride, no noise, temperature very low on both sides 41-42C Only slightly higher than the rest of the euc😂 1 Quote
