Jayzao Posted July 29 Posted July 29 During our off-road ride on Saturady a slight rain and ensuing hail storm caused the clay-like mud to stick to our EUC wheels causing the Falcon wheel to seize up. My wife tried to clear it and restart but the motor was locked up and after three beeps the machine shutdown. The wheel became so caked up it was locked solid but she attempted to restart and power through. She went through this process three times before I was able to get back to her on the trail. The machine was dead at this point and would not power on. I carried it out to the road and went for the car. Thankfully I was able to get the V14 off the trail before the same fate occurred. We realize this is user-error and not a Begode problem, although I wish there was more clearance between the metal fender and wheel. We intend to do a total teardown and cleaning following the Chubby & Skinny YouTube video, but I wanted to inquire with the forum to suggest what may have failed, meaning which board, fuse, or other electronic component. Rawnei Posted July 29 Posted July 29 The mosfets on the mainboard probably fried, this is why newer LeaperKim wheels will turn the motor off in this sort of scenario to protect from a critical failure, a feature Begode should implement as well IMO. 1 1 Quote
Jayzao Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 We broke the wheel down to clean it out and installed the replacement board. However, upon powering up, the wheel made an odd whining sound. I wish we had recorded that part, but the wheel seemed to have gotten dirt and water into the motor housing, as the bearing feels like dirt grinding. We live in the city and don't have much working space, so a friend took it yesterday to look at the motor. This one seems insufficient for an off-road designed wheel in terms of seals and water resistance. 1 Quote

The diversity in EUCs is a positive aspect of the sport. There should be an EUC that suits every rider, regardless of their specific needs or environment. I agree that EUC manufacturers looking to expand into new markets will need to design their products to handle the unique challenges of different terrains. For instance, features like the space between the tire and fender or the level of water resistance are important considerations. Currently, we’re using EUCs at an archaeological site to move between tents, digs, and trucks, which opens up a world of possibilities for EUCs in various environments.
